The Pakatan Harapan coalition in Johor has agreed to allow the special team set-up by the Education Ministry to conclude its investigations into the incident at SRJK(C) Pai Chee in Mersing.

"Enough time must also be given for the police to conclude its investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code.

"It is hoped that the outcome of investigations by these two parties will be able to identify the real reason behind the incident and actions can be taken against the guilty party without any fear or favour," said Harapan leaders from Amanah, DAP and PKR in a joint statement last night.

The statement was released by Johor Amanah chairperson Aminolhuda Hassan, DAP state-secretary Gan Peck Cheng and Johor PKR chairperson Hassan Karim.

The leaders said that Johor Harapan fully endorses the decree by Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in September last year, rejecting all racist elements in the state.

"Statements linking the incident to racial sentiments are premature and simplistic.

"Such statements will only make matters worst before investigations on the matter have concluded," the leaders said.

Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid in a Facebook posting last Friday said that a special team has been formed to investigate the matter and its outcome is expected to be ready in three days.

He also said the headmistress SJK(C) Pai Chee who was involved in the alleged racial attack on a teacher has been transferred to the district Education Department, pending an investigation.

Salina Daud, a teacher at SJKC Pai Chee in Mersing, Johor, had lodged a police report on Wednesday against the father of a pupil, whom she claimed assaulted her.

The man allegedly threw books and teaching equipment at her when he barged into the teachers' common room.
