DAP Youth slams PKR for naming its S'wak polls candidates

Despite having signed a common agreement within Pakatan Harapan, a Sarawak DAP member has lambasted PKR for being "selfish and self-serving" in announcing their candidates for the forthcoming Sarawak state elections.

"PKR is totally selfish and self-serving. If their success was so dismal, look to your partner in DAP to overcome your weakness," Petra Jaya DAP Socialist Youth publicity secretary Abdul Aziz Isa said in a statement today.

PKR announced its candidacies for so many seats so early, without any discussion with the other parties in Pakatan Harapan, Aziz complained, adding that PKR also refused to give up any seat in Sarawak, "despite losing".

"(This) shows how arrogant and uncooperative it is.

"Maybe PKR does not even have the intention to negotiate in the first place, it just bulldozes because it is so desperate.

"So three-cornered fights are imminent," Aziz said.

PKR is also difficult to approach, he added, because of "its brainless brain and ego".

Aziz ( photo ), who is also special assistant to Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen, challenged PKR to let DAP contest some of the seats that are traditionally PKR seats in Sarawak, adding that perhaps a few three-cornered fights in the polls "will prove who is worthy".

This is because, he said, DAP has better chances than PKR in winning against BN in many areas, as DAP has been working on the ground since the 13th general election in 2013.

Aziz also said that PKR only started going out to the ground in the past two to three months before elections.

"So sad, that PKR has not learned to serve the people," he said.

Describing PKR as arrogant, among other things, he pointed out that PKR should give up some of the seats it wants to contest to DAP, since it did not win those seats before and would not do much better this time.

'PKR not a decisive party'

Aziz also argued that PKR would likely not do well in West Malaysia if it continued to be friendly towards PAS, which is estranged from DAP over the hudud issue.

"PKR is not a decisive party, its leaders can't make up their minds - dithering forever. PKR is headless, directionless and clueless."

He said that if the PKR leaders are not Sarawakian and do not understand the situation there, they should back off and refrain from mingling in the local affairs.

"As everybody can see, it will always be difficult for DAP, but we are consistent and have integrity," he said.

This attack on PKR comes just a month after DAP, PKR and Amanah signed their common agreement to seal their Pakatan Harapan coalition pact.

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said then that Pakatan Harapan would no longer agree to disagree, and any party that breaks from the coalition's consensus would be given the boot.

"The three parties are free to make their own political decisions, as long as it does not go against the agreement and mutual decisions inked today, or those made by the presidential council,” Rafizi said.
