YOURSAY | ‘When there is clear evidence of alleged grand theft, do you still support the leadership?’

Salleh Keruak explains why he stands by embattled PM

Unafraid: Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak, the real reason why you have to issue those statements in support of the PM is because it’s your job to do so.

I have no problems with that except that you are doing it blindly and against your own conscience, sometimes even bordering on absurdity.

This 'dog-like' support is both demeaning to you and absolutely nauseating to all right-thinking Malaysians.

Telestai!: Salleh, how do you defend the indefensible. When there is clear-cut evidence of alleged grand theft, do you still support the leadership?

Do you not demand that the leadership investigate the credible allegations, especially when that leader refuses to sue a foreign newspaper that publishes damning evidence not once but several times?

I don't know which planet you live on but in my previous global financial organisation, employees who are tainted in any form get distanced by their colleagues. The extent of ex-communication is so severe that it is pointless for the errant employees to remain in the organisation.

We call such a position "untenable". Before you continue to support your leader, I wonder if you've considered whether your leader's position is similarly untenable.

Anonymous_3e86: Salleh used a stupid analogy. Defending Najib now means destroying Umno. Salleh has not said that Najib is innocent. He has merely said he is defending Najib to "defend the party against the enemies".

The longer it takes to turn Najib over to the law, the more damage it will do to Umno. Much damage has been done already. Not getting rid of the cancer means leaving it to destroy the whole body.

News of the scandal has spread like wildfire beyond our shores. Even the kampung folk know about it. It's too late to save Umno and PM Najib Razak.

It is best others save themselves before they get drown when the ship sinks. Or is it too late already?

Tan Kim Keong: Salleh, if you truly believe that Najib's behaviour regarding 1MDB is one of integrity, then by all means continue to defend him.

Be ready to acknowledge your blunder when the time comes, otherwise you will be seen as another leader who lacks integrity.

Anonymous_1371705241: Salleh, let’s just be frank, it's not about the party, it's about the money and about the position that you're holding.

Never ever forget the job of a minister and an MP is to defend the interest of the people and do everything within your powers to improve the life of the rakyat.

What your master is doing now is harming the interest of the people and the country, you should be defending the latter two not the former.

Of course, that's something to expect from a minister with conscience and integrity, which obviously are the two qualities that you lack. So please, don't talk like you are some hero in defending your master.

Anonymous 2358311441466692: Intelligent people call that "blind loyalty". It has never been right to follow corrupt leaders blindly.

This is the characteristic found in gang members not in the highest echelon of power representing a democracy. That's why you are not worthy of the office you hold.

The Truth: Salleh, it is not proven beyond reasonable doubt that former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim did in fact committed sodomy.

But the potentate first kept silence about the RM2.6 billion. When reported by Wall Street Journal , the persistent reply was “I never used it for personal use”.

If it is in fact a donation, why no one in Umno knew about it? How much of the money was used, and for what and for whom?

And Najib didn't know RM42 million was banked into his personal account? Either Najib has so much transactions in his accounts amounting to hundreds of millions that he simply lost track, or he was not afraid anymore.

Anonymous 122461436161429: The ones who are revealing the crimes committed by Umno leaders and their cronies are being called 'enemies'?

How can you label them such? I call them patriots. It is their duty and calling to reveal these crooks who are leading our country and who in charge of our monies. It should be your duty too.

Secondly, what are you doing about the alleged crimes? As you are doing nothing, this makes you fully complicit in them.

Ipohcrite: Personally, I think the present cabinet is (to borrow billionaire George Soros' description) a menace to its own country.

Salleh will soon drown with the sinking ship he has boarded and if he is lucky enough to get hold of a life jacket, the sharks will soon finish him off. So, be warned.
