Don't raise prices, Najib tells traders

The prime minister today advised all traders nationwide to adhere to the Price Control Scheme, especially during this festive season.

Najib Abdul Razak, in his latest Facebook post, also urged consumers to practice their consumer rights by lodging reports against traders found to have failed to adhere to the price control scheme.

"All traders nationwide are compelled to adhere to the price control scheme. If any of them failed to do so, consumers have the rights and obligations to report to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK)," he said.

Najib, who visited Labuan yesterday, also expressed his satisfaction with the selling prices of controlled items in the federal territory for the Chinese New Year celebration.

The KPDNKK has set the ceiling price for 13 controlled items for CNY, which took effect from Feb 3 to 14, 2016.

Among the items are live chicken, standard chicken, eggs, imported round cabbage, garlic from China, pomfret and large white prawn.
