Dr M is right about AG, but ex-PM is running out of ammo

YOURSAY | ‘If you think you can rely on Dr M as a vehicle to oust Najib, you are wrong.’

Mahathir: AG has no credibility to declare Najib innocent

Rupert16: We indeed have a lame duck prime minister in Najib Razak. One, nobody trusts him anymore.

Two, no one would listen to him because of this trust deficit and he has a tendency to speak with a forked tongue, be it at home or abroad.

Third, in any government-to-government negotiation with any foreign country, he would be speaking from a position of weakness as others could ‘blackmail’ him considering the many skeletons in his closet (some of which are now exposed), and he would end up compromising our country's interest.

As for attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali, he is clearly involved in covering up Najib's wrongdoings, and should be dealt with in time to come.

Monty: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, of course you are right about the AG, but Najib is not going anywhere. He is comfortably entrenched in his position and provided with good covering fire from the AG, the cabinet and Umno warlords.

But after 22 years in office, you certainly have the ammunition in your armoury to dislodge him. But you have to come out fighting and getting not just Umno members, but Malays and non-Malays to back you.

They will follow you into the streets and march right up to Istana Negara to demand for the PM's removal. If anyone can do that, you can.

Anonymous 2394011452703677: If you think you can rely on Dr M as a vehicle to oust Najib, you are wrong.

He will use, squeeze and extract every bit of juice possible from you for his own agenda, and when he is done, you would be left to rot in the dump just like a stick of sugarcane.

Anonymous 2398801454634431: Mahathir didn’t pull Malaysia out of its crisis with economic reform or adjustment, but with more and more borrowing and spending.

This was possible because Malaysia was still sitting on the fiscal reserves it had been amassing for half a century, since the British colonial period.

Mahathir grandiosely claimed that his imposition of capital controls had saved the economy. But capital flight had basically run its course by the time controls were implemented. Mahathir imposed them to facilitate political repression as much as economic recovery.

The spectre of anti-Chinese riots in neighbouring Indonesia was then callously manipulated to keep ethnic Chinese voters in the BN fold in the 1999 election.

Anonymous 2394011452703677: Dr M envisions Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin as the future PM and his son Mukhriz Mahathir as the deputy prime minister.

After a short while, he would say Muhyiddin is no good and get him removed to pave way for Mukhriz.

Along the way, Perkasa would join Umno and we would then become Mahathir-sia. History books would then be rewritten the way Mahathir wants it to be.

Mojo Jojo: Dr M, your political party was, is and always will be bad news for peace-loving people who value their freedom.

Sontotsia: I have to point out to you, good doctor, that all of what Najib knows, and has carried out, was learnt from you.

You had the opportunity to make Malaysia an exemplary nation but you set the stage for the unsavoury to become emperors.

Now we're approaching our ruin and you can't do a damn thing about it.

Dr M: Razak Baginda should face justice in France

Mamadias: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) must launch an investigation on whether Abdul Razak Baginda paid taxes and how much was paid.

If he paid less than the total amount, then the money must have been shared, so who are other parties involved? It will be an interesting web.

You don't pay just one guy 30 million euro for lobbying. As far as I know, lobbying involves many parties.

Ipoh PP: Mahathir, you should have opened your eyes and taken action when the Scorpene submarines sale was being negotiated. It was done under your watch.

What were you doing? You were the PM then, and the blame falls squarely on you. If you had done your job, we would not have a Frankenstein now.

FairMind: Don't be too certain AG Apandi won't pursue the case in Malaysia.

But instead of dragging Najib into the case, he might just drag Mahathir in as he was the premier of Malaysia and the head of Umno at that time.

Mark my words - those Najib sycophants will drag Mahathir's name through the mud in the days ahead.

Frankie: Where was the crime? What Razak Baginda got was just a donation, because Thales International Asia wanted to help Malaysia fight the foreign extremists by supplying its submarines.
