Villager survives crocodile attack, injured in right thigh

A crocodile attacked a villager during the floods last night in Kampung Tupong Ulu.

Shakawi Suhaili, 55, was injured in the right thigh and admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital. He was discharged today.

Shakawi said he was shifting some wood under his house near Sungai Sarawak at about 10.30pm when the reptile lunged at him and caught him by the right thigh.

He managed to free himself and was helped by neighbours and a son to climb up to the house, he told reporters at his house today.

One of Shakawi’s sons, Muhd Ikhmal, said he was unaware that his father had gone under the house to shift wood.

He realised his father had been attacked by a crocodile after he saw some neighbours and his elder brother helping him up to the house.
