S'WAK POLLS Chief Minister Adenan Satem has a plan for what to do after the hectic Sarawak election - go fishing, and preferably where he can still see the shoreline.

He said he is a National Geographic fan who loves nature and "lonely places".

"After the election, I plan to go fishing. Not deep sea fishing but somewhere I still can see the land because I feel comfortable if I can see the land. If I can’t see the land and just blue sky, I could be scared," he said in an interview on BernamaTV in Kuching today.

Adenan showed his softer side when he spoke about his likes and dislikes, as well as his diet.

"I take fish and vegetables, not much meat, and avoid sugar and oily food. I do exercise occasionally, but as I get older, I do less and less,” he said with a laugh.

The 72-year-old sleeps for about six hours a day, and spends most of his time at work.

"During my waking hours I'm always doing my job, including attending meetings. I insist on being on time and plan what I want to do. All my life has been about working, so work is no stranger to me."

'Vote the people in my team'

On how he copes with the tight schedule during the campaign period, Adenan said time management is vital.

"I also take time to relax as you can't work all the time. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," he said with a grin.

Adenan, who is known for singing Cliff Richard's ‘The Young Ones’ and Elvis Presley's ‘Can't Help Falling In Love’ during his campaign, said he took up singing during his teens and even had a band called Vagabond.

"We had jam sessions, we played at concerts and Radio Sarawak at that time. I not only sing in public but also in the bathroom," said Adenan, laughing.

He is a soccer fan too, supporting Team Malaysia and Manchester United.

He firmly believes that teamwork would ensure BN victory in the election, saying: "I don't think Mokhtar Dahari can score so much if there were no James Wong, Hassan Sani, Santokh Singh, or Soh Chin Aun.

"If you want me to continue as chief minister, you have to vote the people in my team because I cannot do it alone."
