Will the Chinese swing back to BN in Sarawak?

YOURSAY | ‘The number of urban poor is significant, but their priority may not be 1MDB.’

Zahid confident urban Chinese will swing back to BN

NNFC: The fact that BN looks on you as Chinese, Malay and Indian demonstrates its inability to be a party for Malaysians.

There is no way any smart-minded Malaysian should be wanting racists to run our country.

Clever Voter: To many locals, even a RM10 note means something. The number of urban poor is significant, but their priority may not be 1MDB.

The patronage culture is deeply embedded, so whoever can make a difference on the ground will get the votes.

It’s tough for fight for change, as in many third world countries, the rich and powerful rule.

FellowMalaysian: BN has been consistently returned as the government of Sarawak and what progress and development has this self-glorifying team of inept leaders done for the state?

The revenues derived from its oil, gas and timber go to the federal government and both PM Najib Abdul Razak and DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi have just said no to caretaker CM Adenan Satem's request for a 20 percent return of oil wealth to the state.

Sarawakians, don't be fooled by the empty promises and false hopes that the BN leaders have been churning out lately. They are just political hype and once returned to power, you will be totally forgotten.

Dont Just Talk: We shall see how the Sarawakian urban Chinese will vote - to support the allegedly corrupted ruling elite government or like West Malaysian Chinese, to reject everything that has to do with Umno Baru and the ‘boh-hood’ BN parties.

Sarawakians, use your head when you cast your votes, and say no to corruption.

PanteR kInG: After the appearance of real DAP and PKR, we can now confirm those who are sincere in serving the people and those who are not.

Vote wisely and don't listen to their slanderous statements, obviously trying to reduce the people’s support for the government.

Dr Suresh Kumar: Throw them a few contracts and the Chinese will go running back to Umno-BN.

A recent report stated that Pakatan Harapan-friendly Chinese millionaires in the peninsular are now switching support for Umno-BN because their businesses are not doing well. There you go.

But Pakatan Harapan supporters, especially those from the DAP, will cringe and condemn the poor who gets aid from BN. They will talk about ethics and morality. Tell that to all the BN-friendly Chinese tycoons first.

Fairplayer: I don't want to predict or make wild guesses, but I will do my part to make sure there will be a strong opposition. I will pray until the battle is done and won.

Wira: Sarawakians, please give Adenan the chance to support Najib to create more 1MDBs, thereby increasing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to pay for the so-called ‘donations’.

Aziz Kader: Why can’t a Chinese Sarawakian become CM; why do Chinese become second grade citizen to accept the deputy CM’s post?

Any Malaysian with clean, honest and good leadership skills can become CM in Sarawak, no matter Iban or Dayak.

As far as we in Peninsular Malaysia know, BN must keep Iban, Dayak, Melanau, Chinese and Malays as their fixed deposit, but once all these people develop their education and wealth, BN will have little chance to win.

So for the next 200 years, they will give them fish instead of training them how to fish.

Sarawak BN doesn't have 'real' autonomy, says DAP man

Eagle: Adenan is not serious about the 20 percent oil royalty because it's not written in his manifesto. We’ve read that Najib/Zahid have said they will not talk about the 20 percent oil royalty. So end of story.

But more worrying is Adenan's action - he never demanded for it at all in this election.

The Analyser: Instead of constantly criticising BN, why don’t those from DAP have something proactive, productive, principled and forward-looking to say?

Batu Kitang DAP candidate in Batu Kitang, Abdul Aziz Isa Marindo, looks like another token Malay elevated to a position way beyond his area of expertise simply because he is Malay. A bit like a sacrificial lamb really.

Anonymous 2412071460095846: Analyser, the opposition can't do anything now. But they will when they form the next government.

If DAP had no Malay candidates, you would say DAP is too Chinese. Got one single Malay candidate, you say token candidate.

And speaking of expertise, you're saying BN candidates are better experts? Give me a break.
