The choice - more of the same or go for change

YOURSAY | ‘By now, you know what you will get with BN. Is that good enough?’

Save DAP, Kit Siang's SOS to voters

FellowMalaysian: Sarawakians, please wake up from your 50-year slumber. The BN government has neglected the state all along. You just have to travel from Kuching to Sibu to see how terrible the road conditions are.

And in every state election, BN will make the same promises and I can tell you, nothing will happen - again - in the next five years if BN is returned. Don't be duped over and over again.

Your vote will decide whether you will break free from the clutches of the party which has stunted Sarawak's progress the past 50 years. Be ready this Saturday to declare your freedom from BN.

The Analyser: Why would anyone want to save DAP? So they can continue to disrupt the development of a truly representational democratic and egalitarian alternative government?

For 50 years, DAP has tried and failed. This Saturday will see its greatest failure yet.

Mosquitobrain: For a better and healthy Sarawak, Sarawakians need to have a stronger opposition to enjoy more development and help ensure that the government toes the line.

AntiRacial: Indeed, if you want all your demands to be fulfilled, vote opposition. Once the opposition has something like 40 percent of your votes in Sarawak, this will be a wake-up call for BN and they will fulfil everything you demand.

You do not need to vote out BN yet, just give more votes to the opposition and see what happens. If you give full support to BN, what BN has promised, will remain just that - promises. Be smart, Sarawakian voters.

Xmen: Yes, if they get what they want, you will be the losers and will waste another five years. Make them your slaves by voting the opposition no matter which party.

Anonyxyz: DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang need not appeal to the voters because what the voters choose, they will have to accept the consequences of their choices.

If they feel comfortable with current state of government, clouded by corruption and a half-past-six cabinet, let it be.

Wong Fei Hoong: PM Najib Razak brought the whole cabinet to Sarawak for the cabinet meeting. You know how much the government spent in bringing the whole gang here.

Whose money are they spending? Their grandfather's money or the rakyat's money? Why the need to do so? Are they there to campaign for BN? God knows.

This is the type of government Sarawakians will be getting if they continue to support BN.

Anonymous #70881335: DAP, for starters, to get rid of your Chinese-only image, form an inner council that has a multi-racial composition to advise the office bearers.

Shanandoah: Sarawakians are not stupid. DAP is going to double its number of seats in the state assembly. The voters are simply sick and tired of all the corruption that has been going on for a long time.

Moreover, the loss of the English language has made them unemployable, like the Malays in the peninsula. Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem himself realises this and wants to bring back English schools. But he is being hindered by Umno Baru.

Vision2020: The timber tycoons of Sarawak will entice voters with money rather than principles and policies. Liberty, justice and equality will be forgotten once they win the two-thirds majority in this 11th state election.

Hopefully, Sarawakians are smarter than them by taking the goodies and vote for the opposition for better bargaining power in the national policy-making process, for equal opportunity and pursuit of happiness, irrespective of colour, creed, and religion.

Speaking Sense: It's all up to the voters - look beyond a few dollars of this and that. Think of the future of this country and our next generation.

Do we really feel happy consigning them to another 50 years of Umno-BN and its increasingly excessive and intolerant culture of corruption, intimidation, cronyism, racial and religious divisions, injustices and disregard for the rule of law?

Let's have a fair go for everyone. Vote DAP, PKR, and Amanah. Don't waste even one vote on BN.

Frank: Sarawakians will gain more in the next two years, leading up to the next general election, if they were to vote for non-BN candidates in its state election.

Why? Simply because the Umno-BN controlled federal government would be so fearful of losing many parliamentary seats, that it would give all that the Sarawakians desire during that period.

So what say you, Sarawakians? It is time to have those people who act as if they were the kings of Sarawak to know who the real kings are.

MariKitaUbah: Voters nowadays are quiet until polling day. The results will speak for itself. Look at Sabah in the early 1980s - how Berjaya was toppled.

There was not the slightest sign that Berjaya would lose. In fact, its chief, Harris Salleh, was ready to celebrate in his residence with a big group of people, they were having a BBQ on that fateful night.

The same may happen in Sarawak.
