None of 1Malaysia Development Bhd’s (1MDB) staff are employed by the Finance Ministry, says Deputy Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani.
“That one (1MDB) is a company and we are a government body. There is a differentiation between the two.
“Our relationship with 1MDB is as far as some of the bonds guaranteed by the government,” he said to a question on whether 1MDB staff were relocated to the ministry.
Yesterday, Johari was reported as saying that the state-owned firm’s assets would be transferred to the Ministry of Finance Incorporated by mid-June.
The company, he said, would then become a shell company to manage liabilities and bonds it has issued.
“It does not mean that the government must take (employ) their staff. We don’t work that way,” he added.
