Dream on, Zuhdi. PAS will not win without Chinese support

YOURSAY | ‘Claiming Malay support for PAS is at par with BN is a total illusion.'

Zuhdi: Chinese swing to BN will give PAS edge in three-way fight

Anonymous #12566075: PAS research centre director Zuhdi Marzuki is dreaming about PAS' prospects in the two by-elections, especially in Sungai Besar.

Malay votes are likely to be split between BN, PAS and Pakatan Harapan, while Chinese votes are likely to go to Harapan if there is a three-cornered contest.

Chinese voters in Peninsular Malaysia are not like Sarawakian Chinese voters.

Ghostwhowalks: What warped logic is this PAS man spilling? Earlier he argued a three-cornered fight may see the Chinese voters favouring BN.

Then he said in a three-cornered fight, "... our chances are better because Malay support for PAS now is almost at par with BN".

Come on, if Malay votes are split equally between PAS and BN, then is it not whoever the 31 percent Chinese voters support would have a better chance of winning?

With this type of logic, no wonder the rakyat have given up on them.

Ah Hoe: PAS lost only by 399 votes in 2013 because the Chinese were behind the Islamic party on the basis of its membership in Pakatan.

Wira: Zuhdi Marzuki, a research director? What kind of director is he for him to deduce:

1) When Chinese votes, which previously went to PAS and are now going to its opponent, are deemed advantages to PAS.

2) That Chinese votes will not go to Harapan.

Zuhdi, let me tell you this. Most Chinese will regard voting for PAS as equal to voting for a corrupt Umno.

I also think Muslims will be confused if both PAS and Umno put their candidates on the ballot in the same constituencies.

Kudaku Lari: Claiming that Malay support for PAS is at par with BN is a total illusion. Chinese voters will not support PAS.

A three-cornered fight will give advantage to PAS, he claimed. Come on, even with straight fights against BN in previous contests, PAS failed to wrest both seats, and at a time was when the Islamic party was at its highest level, with strong support from its then allies, PKR and DAP.

In Sungai Besar, PAS' small loss was due to Chinese support from the Sekinchan state seat. In the Sungai Panjangthe other state seat under Sungai Besar - PAS lost with big majority of 2,000 plus votes. So where is the logic that Malays support PAS?

The current scenario now has changed dramatically. All voters - Malays, Chinese and others - are facing tough times with increased cost of living, coupled with other issues such as corruption.

PAS was "strong" then because it was part of Pakatan.

LifeFlier: Yes, the Chinese voters might swing to BN, and then hope for the missing billions of 1MDB to drop from sky and fill the government's budgetary holes, and after that, the gang of 1MDB perpetrators will chain and lock themselves up in Sungai Buloh.

PAS, you must be kidding.

Pemerhati: PAS is in bed with Umno and even the veteran Machiavellian Dr Mahathir Mohamad is worried that if there is a straight fight between PAS and Umno, PAS may withdraw just before the elections so as to let Umno win.

It will be a good learning experience for all if there are three-cornered fights between Harapan, Umno and PAS.

PAS will find out how many Malays are willing to get their limbs chopped off for minor thefts while their leader, Abdul Hadi Awang, does not say a word about PM Najib Razak, who is being accused allegedly taking more money than a million thieves combined.

Umno will find out if the Malays are just like the natives of Sabah or if they are disgusted with the tens of billions of their money gone missing.

Harapan can find out if they have other possible Trojan horses like Hadi in their midst, who put obstacles and try to prevent Amanah, which replaced PAS in the opposition coalition, from contesting in the seats formerly contested by PAS.

Hope: It is so clear now that PAS' existence is solely to ensure the survival of Umno. It is sad, the opposition has yet to come to the terms with the fact that PAS is not an opposition party anymore.

Even a three-year-old kid knows whether PAS will get the Chinese votes or not.

Lamps: After the red shirt racist rally, the Goods and Services Tax (GST), 1MDB, and "apa lagi Cina mahu" (What more do the Chinese want), don't expect the ethnic Chinese to vote BN.

Multi Racial: Indeed, Chinese votes will never go back to the tainted BN. Neither will it will go to PAS who have betrayed them.

Whatsup: Dream on Zuhdi, dream on. The Chinese community has been blamed, cheated, marginalised, etc - you think they are so stupid to support the culprits?

Only a David Copperfield act can help PAS win.
