If it was 'intelligence grade', then why wasn’t Jho Low summoned?

YOURSAY | ‘Why is it so difficult for PAC to determine who owns Good Star?’

PAC chief denies WSJ's report, says Good Star info ‘intelligence grade’

Tan Kim Keong: This is clearly a case of selective use of information in the effort to hide the truth.

By saying that this piece of information provided by Bank Negara was of “intelligence grade”, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Hasan Arifin invariably is also saying that all information given by Bank Negara cannot be used by PAC too.

Now it is really up to decent people in Umno to ensure the country gets its moral compass back.

NoTokKok: The PAC chairperson is now admitting the existence of the letter and is playing prosecutor, judge and jury role without informing or involving the other members.

This is a blatant act of concealing pertinent information and he has lost all integrity and respect of many of us who expect him to do his job.

He should relinquish his job immediately or be sacked. We cannot trust a public servant who cannot be trusted.

Anonymous 1890491455255851: Yes, what a lame excuse from Hasan. It seems like many others can get information verified but PAC can't?

Is he is telling us that it is difficult to verify ownership of a company? Bank Negara's information wasn't high rate enough? Give us a break. This doesn't require much intelligence.

Patriot1: He has kept totally quiet that he had received the April 6 letter from Bank Negara.

He can explain till kingdom come, but the fact is he tried to conceal information from the PAC and his act of altering the final PAC report without informing the committee members clearly shows he is attempting to hide information.

A person of such dubious character is not qualified to lead the PAC.

FellowMalaysian: The story told by Hasan that Bank Negara had stated the information given to PAC is of “intelligence grade” must be the most ridiculous utterance made by the PAC's chairperson yet so far.

It is indeed hard to believe Hasan's words as the letter from Bank Negara did not make such qualifications.

SMC77: So does it mean Hasan has admitted there is such a letter from Bank Negara and in the letter, the central bank did mention Jho Low is the owner, according to the information provided by foreign authorities?

If the answer is ‘yes’ to the above questions, why you didn't share the letter with other PAC members and why didn't you investigate further to verify whether Jho Low is the owner of this entity?

Either you are a liar or you are highly incompetent.

Kuasa Rakyat: So ‘intelligence grade’ is not good enough? If it was not, shouldn't the PAC carried out its duties and responsibilities to verify it?

At the very, very least shouldn't Jho Low be summoned?

Apple Polishing I am Not: Indeed, to cut the long story short, why not summon Jho Low to Malaysia and ask him who owns Gold Star.

Alternatively, ask him to make a statutory declaration stating he is not the owner of Gold Star in any Malaysian Embassy worldwide.

Anonymous 2415441461825515: And why is it so difficult for PAC to determine who owns Good Star?

I really don't understand these fellows. Are you trying to unravel the truth or trying to hide it? Somehow, we get the feeling it is the latter.

Headhunter: One can see that 1MDB not only has created many monsters and unprincipled men and women but also new terms to confuse the public in its quest to hide the truth, the latest is "intelligence grade".

1MDB is like a plague on the people who has anything to do with it. It can turn people into idiots who talk like their brain has shrunk.

Vijay47: But the entire PAC panel had included the Bank Negara letter in its final report. If it were indeed of "intelligence grade" or whatever, why was it included in the first place, why did you agree to that?

Even more crucially, if the PAC was not an intelligence agency, why did Bank Negara furnish you with restricted information that you were not qualified to receive?

And thirdly, since that final report was the joint responsibility of the whole committee, why did you surreptitiously unilaterally remove it from the edition to be submitted?

No, Hasan, not too intelligent of you.

MVA: PAC members are MPs who are Malaysia's lawmakers. How can national issues, especially matters pertaining to the alleged theft of the country's wealth, be kept from them?

It just doesn't make sense!

Caripasal: Did 1MDB verify the identity of the owner of Good Star, or was this based on "intelligence grade" information as well, before transferring billions of dollars to this company?

Hasan shows lack of intelligence on Bank Negara’s letter
