For 'kafir harbi', silence on both sides of fence disheartening

YOURSAY | 'The real culprits are the Malays in Pakatan Harapan, who sit and do nothing. '

No minister will speak out against Pahang mufti, muses Kit Siang

Drngsc: Dear Chinese and Indian Malaysians, they call us kafir harbi, and that we should be killed. Please remember this when GE14 comes. No, we will not kill people, but in self-defense, we should vote out Umno and change the tenants at Putrajaya.

After that we will take care of muftis who do not support the federal constitution. If the mufti is wrong and says the wrong things, then we expect our ministers to quickly correct him.

But right now no minister has done this, which must mean that they agree with him. So we have to throw them out.

Pemerhati: The indiscriminate killing of non-Muslims advocated by the Pahang Mufti Abdul Rahman Osman, is very similar to what is advocated by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS).

Many Muslims have been influenced by such calls and they have killed innocent men, women and children all over the world (e.g. Boston and Orlando in USA, in UK, France, Nigeria, etc).

The danger to Malaysians is that some Muslims in the country may be influenced by IS and people like the Pahang mufti, because they are able to justify their barbaric statements by quoting verses from the Quran, and devout Muslims tend to believe them because they believe everything written in the Quran comes from God.

If the government does not take quick and firm action against Abdul Rahman, there is a strong possibility that innocent non-Muslims may be severely harmed by radicalised Muslims. If the government does not take any action, then it would be reasonable to assume that Najib and Umno agree with the Pahang mufti.

Whatsup: Why the deafening silence from those professing the faith? It's a most heinous act against peace-loving and patriotic communities. Where is your moral conscience?

Doc: There are thousands of similar Islamic scholars, clerics, ulama, mufti, religious leaders who have a mindset similar to that of Pahang's mufti Abdul Rahman Osman. They are spread all around the world, committed to preaching hate and destruction to all those who are not Muslim.

This is one of the main reasons why Islamophobia is spreading like wildfire all over the world. Muslims are being labelled as outdated, terrorist, racist, crazy, anti-education, war mongering, anti-women, anti-human rights, unreasonable, etc.

Pahang's mufti Abdul Rahman Osman is a fine example of why more and more Muslims all over the world and sadly, the majority of tolerant Malay Muslims in this country, are being labelled with these types of adverse classifications.

Proarte: Have Rafizi Ramli, Anwar Ibrahim, Nurul Izzah Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail condemned the Pahang mufti for his incitement to murder? To my mind, the real culprits are the Malays in Pakatan Harapan, who sit and do nothing.

These rotten leaders have the gall to say they are a better alternative to BN.

They are behaving like Umno and the electorate will punish them at the ballot box as they did in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar. And Nizar Jamaluddin of Amanah will keep scratching his head asking why Allah continues to keep Najib in power.

The Pahang mufti's comments are calculated to incite fear, suspicion and hatred in the time honoured modus operandi of 'divide and rule'. Why is DAP supremo Kit Siang surprised at BN's response?

Umno will continue to keep mum and let the criticism of the mufti's diabolical statement come from Gerakan, MCA and MIC. These parties will then appear to be 'fighting' for their respective constituencies - it is the tired old game of making BN component parties 'relevant'.

Negarawan: The statement from the mufti of Pahang is an incitement to murder. In a civilised country like Singapore, such a grave statement coming from a religious leader, would have resulted in his immediate dismissal from his post and legal action being taken.

A true religion does not incite hatred and killing of non-believers, rather it promotes compassion and mercy towards them. The mufti should take a closer look at the reality that is happening around the world, where there are increasing acts of violence committed by Muslims against non-Muslims, and in fact against fellow Muslims from other sects as well.

The silence of the Islamic authorities and Umno government towards the belligerent mufti signifies that they support violence towards non-Muslims.

Let's hope that Malaysia does not end up being included in the list of Islamic terrorist countries. Irresponsible people like the mufti and his supporters are sowing seeds of terrorism in Malaysia.

Dont Just Talk: Any other individual, except mufti or Umno Baru supporters, would have been called up by inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar to have a cup of coffee at the police station while having his statement taken.

YKK: Don't get angry with this old peasant. It is Utusan Malaysia which published his rubbish. And where is the police? And where are the other muftis from better social backgrounds?

Lulu: Sooner or later the religious mufti will be calling the shots in the country and there is nothing the politicians or government can do to stop them.

Thinking Machine: Our country is receding into the dark ages and a day will come when many of the young ones will be migrating to other countries.

Religion is important as it guides us but one religion claiming supremacy over another will only divide us further and cause a lot of friction, until it becomes a time bomb.

I have seen good Muslims, good Christians, good Hindus, good Buddhists and good atheists. We hope that the dark force that is trying to take hold, will eventually be wiped out. We hope to see this day.

Swipenter: In Bolehland, demonstrations were held when someone uttered "Umno celaka" but it is perfectly acceptable for a mufti to brand DAP and non-Muslim communities as kafir harbi at a time when IS terrorists and religious extremists are threatening the country with violence.

Is it not time for the non-Muslim communities to prepare themselves for the worst? It would be foolhardy for them not to do so.

Ipohcrite: The entire cabinet have sold their souls to the political devil. If anything untoward happens, it will be on their heads.

I can't believe how morally low they have sunk. An entire cabinet without a single strand of moral fibre?

To say that I'm outraged is a gross understatement. I hope their children are proud of them for remaining silent.

Anonymous 523121458630190: Why no use of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota)? Why no Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma)?
