Don’t expect IGP to take action against Pahang mufti

YOURSAY | ‘Let’s see what the Pahang sultan, head of Islam in his state, has to say about this.’

Mufti confirms classifying DAP as 'can be slain' kafir harbi

Pemerhati: The indiscriminate killing of non-Muslims advocated by the Pahang mufti Abdul Rahman Osman is very similar to what is advocated by the Islamic State (IS).

Many Muslims have been influenced by these type of calls and they have killed innocent men, women and children all over the world (for example, Boston and Orlando in US, and elsewhere in UK, France, Nigeria, etc.)

The danger to Malaysians is that some Muslims in the country may be influenced by IS and people like the Pahang mufti because they are able to justify their barbaric statements by quoting verses from the Quran and devout Muslims tend to believe them.

If the government does not take quick and firm action against Abdul Rahman, there is a strong possibility that innocent non-Muslims may be severely harmed by radicalised Muslims.

And if the government does not take any action, then it would be reasonable to assume that PM Najib Razak and Umno agree with and/or are in cahoots with the Pahang mufti.

Alicescat: Is this open season on non-Muslims? To slay those who oppose not just certain religious beliefs but those who oppose the current regime?

Is this how Islam views the lives of human beings? To be disposed of when not relevant? Is this not an incitement to commit murder/atrocity under the guise of religious teachings?

Aminnudin Kadir: This statement from a mufti is uncalled for. A man of his position should exercise wisdom when issuing statements so as not to confuse the public.

Kangkung: Abdul Rahman has called for the killing of non-Muslims and of course, the IGP (inspector-general of police) is going to be silent as the mufti is from Umno.

This mufti is the first in this country to call for the killing of non-Muslims. Imagine if this threat is uttered by a non-Muslim. Do you think the IGP will keep quiet?

Vijay47: What we are now witnessing is Muslim religious extremism forging savagely to the fore, to unknown heights.

Islamic leaders and organisations who should be advocating the unity and peace they claim their religion preaches, are instead discarding any adherence to the core principles essential to any multiracial society.

Yesterday, it was Jakim (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia) using its funds to embark on overseas holidays, a trait learned from the wives of Umno leaders.

Today, we have a state mufti calling for the killing of non-Muslims who do not accept Umno's ways.

Tomorrow, when some madman kills a non-Muslim as an offering to Islamic purity, will Najib continue to remain silent?

Rabid speeches by extremists such as Zakir Naik and Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, the hudud proposal, the total laxity with which Muslim fanaticism is treated, where will all this end?

Even calling for sanity is viewed by some as an affront to Islam. Ironically, the Muslims themselves seem unable to realise that they are being used as the cat's paw by Umno.

I am waiting to see what the Sultan of Pahang, the head of Islam in his state, has to say about his chief mufti.

Anonymous #40538199: There are Muslim members in DAP. Prominent Muslim leaders such as Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Dr Mahathir Mohamad, etc, who, in one way or another, worked with DAP before for common political objectives.

While DAP may be anti-Umno, they do not seem to be anti-Islam. I think the mufti may have got it wrong.

Bamboo: With half-baked ulamas holding posts of muftis and religious department posts, this is the result.

They dish out opinions freely without truly understanding the historical context of verses in Quran.

No wonder there are IS fighters and supporters among the Malay Muslims with their shallow understanding of Quran and easily been brainwashed by IS propaganda.

Odin Tajué: Abdul Rahman, you are but a maggot that has poked its head out of an odoriferous mass of putrefying matter - matter in which you and your kind subsist and thrive.

This is obvious from the fact that you were totally unknown to us till now, from the fact that you have not said a word against the massive, blatant corruption saturating Malaysia, a practice no recognised religion even tolerates and never mind advocates, but, instead, you exhibited your feculent environment.

You have poked your head out to make a most repugnant, abominable pronouncement, one that tells us two things - you are an insult to your religion, and that you are a semi-literate, ill-informed kampung bumpkin.

Watan: In a country where meritocracy is in the back seat, stupidity stands out like a sore thumb.

‘Kafir harbi’ and they still say we’re a moderate country
