‘Kafir harbi’ and they still say we’re a moderate country

YOURSAY | ‘This incitation cannot go unpunished under our laws however it is interpreted.’

Mufti confirms classifying DAP as 'can be slain' kafir harbi

6th Generation Immigrant: Perhaps with the support of its owners and bosses, Utusan Malaysia had meant every word they print for dissemination.

It’s possible there is nothing sinister about this news piece about Pahang mufti Abdul Rahman Osman declaring non-Muslims who opposed hudud as ‘kafir harbi’ and thus can be killed.

It’s actually a propagation of their (ill) intentions - hatred and mandated for execution.

Utusan surely cannot be that shallow and so stupid, after all they are owned by Malaysia's Islamic policy architects.

It is so clear that it was politically directed only at DAP (opposition), when PBB, MCA, Gerakan, MIC, etc, were not included in this "kafir harbi" classification, despite these and many more individuals who are all opposed to Abdul Hadi Awang's hudud bill.

We are not even discussing God's law at this point of time. PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's intentions are all political survival for himself.

Even Muslims across the country are opposed to this bill. They are able to read Hadi like an open book. Are these Muslims ‘kafir harbi’, too?

Kim Quek: Indeed, the editors of Utusan should be charged under the Sedition Act for inciting hatred and even murder against DAP members through sensationalising its false accusation of the latter as ‘karfi harbi’.

If DAP’s opposition against amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdictions) Act 1965 proposed by Hadi is legitimate ground to declare them ‘karfi harbi’, then shouldn’t the millions of Malaysians who similarly oppose such amendment - particularly the open and vehement opposition declared by leaders of MCA, Gerakan and many other BN component parties - be declared ‘karfi harbi’ too?

Utusan, which has been punished by the courts for defamation and making false accusations countless times, should not be let off lightly this time, as such reckless provocation is akin to inflaming religious violence not unlike that advocated by the IS.

Alunan Ombak: IGP, arrest this Pahang mufti as well as the Utusan's chief editor.

Charge them with inciting killing of Muslims and non-Muslims who don't support PAS-proposed hudud amendments in Kelantan. This incitation cannot go unpunished under our laws however it is interpreted.

With such mentally-sick muftis in our midst, how can there be religious harmony in the country?

There will instead always be an undercurrent of religious strife among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Kawak: This proclamation is highly inflammable which could lead to killings of non-Muslims in Malaysia.

If the Umno-BN government is a responsible one, they should indeed immediately arrest and detain this mufti under Sedition Act or Penal Code.

Dr Suresh Kumar: Islamic fundamentalism is ripping apart our social fabric, if it is not already done.

As such, the nation has lost its racial harmony and now this man is rubbing salt into the wound. This mufti is creating large crevices from fissures, yet the IGP's silence is deafening.

Citizen_Zero: I am against stupid people whose actions are going to cause me problems. If that person happens to be a Muslim, does it mean that I am against Islam? Not even close.

And it still will have nothing to do with me being against his religion, even if he screams that he is doing it in the name of his religion.

That said, I wonder, if there is a ‘kafir harbi’, what do you call non-Muslims who lives by the same principles which are virtuous in Islam?

For example, good governance, against corruption, against abuse of the people, accountability, justice and fairness, respecting and assisting your fellow man. ‘Kafir good’?

I’ll go one step further: What do you call a Muslim leader who is a coward and a liar, and who steals from his fellow Muslims and causes them to suffer?

Hank Marvin: Abdul Rahman, MCA, MIC, Gerakan and even minister Nancy Shukri and parties from Sabah and Sarawak are also against hudud. Are they ‘kafir harbi’ too?

Goldee: Hank Marvin, according to Abdul Rahman - I would not address him as the mufti because he is not fit at all - anyone who against the implementation of hudud is against Islam and are considered as ‘kafir habir’.

With people like him, there won't be peace.

Tony Soprano: You can be sure that Malaysian muftis and IS supporters calling for the death of infidels will not have escaped the notice of the US ambassador and CIA officers in Kuala Lumpur.

Don't expect possible future president Donald Trump to sympathise with the Malaysian people at large - he's too stubborn and simple-minded to make a distinction.

At the very least, a massive pullout of US and other foreign corporations is always possible should Malaysia obtain a reputation as a very nasty place to be.

Don’t expect IGP to take action against Pahang mufti
