Tambun folk find Husni's resignation from Umno posts a big loss

The resignation of Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah from all his posts in Umno and BN, and as second finance minister has shocked Tambun residents and local leaders who described it as a big loss to them.

A resident of Kampung Manjoi, Nor Fadila Ibrahim, 28, said Ahmad Husni had contributed a lot to the area by bringing many changes, especially in terms of socio-economic development.

"Many projects and new facilities have come in Kampung Manjoi. There's even a Mydin hypermarket right smack in this village!" she said, proudly.

Kampung Manjoi is part of a cluster of villages, collectively called Gugusan Manjoi, known as one of the largest and most populous Malay neighbourhoods in the country, perhaps second only to renowned Kampung Baru in Kuala Lumpur.

Nor Fadila said as a voter in the Tambun parliamentary constituency, she was shocked and sad after hearing the announcement by Prime Minister Najib Razak on Ahmad Husni leaving his cabinet post, and then the news on his resignation from all his posts in Umno and BN.

"Personally, I feel that the government still needs his services in the cabinet because of his experience in holding the portfolio (Finance Ministry)," she said.

Nur Ainzyda Ahmad Azam, 30, described Ahmad Husni as a hardworking elected representative who always went to the ground to meet the constituents, who found him humble and approachable.

"When a resident invited him to attend a wedding reception, he would always come and mingle with the others present, that's why lthe village folk like him," said Nur Ainzyda, who lives in Kampung Tersusun Batu 6, Tambun.

She said since Ahmad Husni was given the mandate as a member of Parliament for the constituency, several facilities and attractions had come up here such as the Lost World of Tambun, Lost World Hot Springs & Spa, Sunway College Ipoh, Giant hypermarket, McDonalds outlets, and many more.

"Before the Tambun area was developed into what it is today, outsiders hardly came here because there was nothing much to see or enjoy, but now it's one of the must-visit destinations in Perak," she added.

'Humble but firm and serious'

Resident Zubir Ismail said he had gained a lot of knowledge from Ahmad Husni since he became Kampung Batu 5 and 6 village head two years ago.

"He was humble but firm and serious in carrying out his tasks, characteristics which should be emulated by other leaders.

"Although he has let go all his posts, we hope he will continue to helm the Tambun constituency because of his experience in developing this area," he said.

Zubir is thankful to Ahmad Husni also because of his efforts in developing the Bandar Baru Putra Mosque, 1Malaysia Library and approval for the building of a new kindergarten.

Kampung Tanjung Rambutan village head, Ayob Zainal said among the developments brought by Ahmad Husni to the Tanjung Rambutan area were the building of Kolej Sains Bersekutu, Tanjung Rambutan new market and upgrading of the Kinta River as a recreational area.

"Ahmad Husni's quit decision is a big loss to the local leaders and residents, and to me, personally, as he has taught me a lot," he said.
