Perkasa slams Umno Youth for '3 Tan Sri conspiracy' claim

Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun's police report alleging a high level conspiracy against the prime minister was "insolent" and "shocking", Perkasa said.

It said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin's silence on the matter also raised suspicions over the move.

Khairul Azwan yesterday lodged a police report alleging outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Abu Kassim Mohamed, former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, of plotting to oust PM Najib Abdul Razak by leaking confidential information to foreign agencies.

"Was Khairul Azwan acting on instructions? What evidence does he have to prove the trio, who had investigated 1MDB, had intentions to topple the PM, or is this allegation a concoction?" Perkasa integrity, anti-corruption and abuse of power bureau chief Muhammad Faiz Na'aman said in a statement.

"The move is a threat, an attempt to spook those involved in the 1MDB investigation or revenge for those trying to expose the truth," he added.

Mohammad Faiz urged the trio accused to take legal action against Khairul Azwan.

Abdul Gani dismissed the claims as a "publicity stunt", Zeti is seeking legal counsel over the allegations while Abu Kassim said he will issue a statement soon.

He said Umno Youth should instead demand that the United States Department of Justice identify the individual referred to as 'Malaysian Official 1' in the lawsuits it filed to seize more than US$1 billion in assets it believed were purchased using siphoned 1MDB funds.

'Malaysian Official 1' was referred to 36 times in the filings, and described as a high ranking public official with authority over 1MDB, and a relative to Najib's stepson, Riza Aziz.

The filings also state the US$731 million was funneled from 1MDB to 'Malaysian Official 1's bank account.

The details of the transaction matched the transactions referred to by attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali when he cleared Najib of wrongdoing over the RM2.6 billion political donation issue.

Najib consistently denies wrongdoing and says those identified in the lawsuits should clear their name.

Perkasa is scheduled to lodge a police report against Khairul Azwan tonight.

'Declaration of war'

In a separate statement, PAS's Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar said the accusation is a "declaration of war against civil servants".

"I believe Umno knows the consequence of their actions. Civil servants are humans, too," he said.

Similarly, PKR Youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin said the police report is an affront on the integrity of the country's top institution.

"It shows that Umno Youth has steered far from its core values. They should be defending the people and the country's sovereignty against betrayal by corrupt leaders," he said in a statement.
