Taiwanese Hip-Hop group Jiu Yi Yi, which performed with local rapper Namewee in his controversial music video, will cooperate fully with the Malaysian police in their investigation.

The video purportedly insulted the religious sensitivities of some Malaysians.

Namewee was picked up by the cops on Sunday, soon after he arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after returning from overseas, and slapped with a four-day remand order.

The manager for Jiu Yi Yi, in speaking to Taiwanese newspaper Apple Daily, revealed that they only came to know about this after receiving a call from a reporter.

“Until now, we have not received any notice on this matter. But if there is a need for Jiu Yi Yi’s assistance in this investigation, we are willing to cooperate,” he said.

The manager believes that the official version of the music video 'Oh My God', which was shot by Namewee and Jiu Yi Yi, did not have any intention to insult any religion.

He claimed that he even re-checked the video’s content after it was edited.

“I think the work we produced does not match the allegations against it. Our roles there were as just as actors and singers. We just did as asked.”

When asked about the possibility that the group's testimony might be required in the investigation, he answered they had nothing to fear.

“We have utterly no worries about this because we conducted ourselves fairly. Instead, we are more concerned whether Namewee has been released.”

The local rapper was lambasted after a leaked version of an earlier cut of the music video 'Oh My God' that he performed with the Taiwanese hip-hop group, made the rounds on the Internet and sparked an outcry.

That version featured Namewee and the group dancing and singing at several places of worship in Malaysia, including a mosque. A police report was lodged against him over the matter.

It was reported that Malaysian cops are seeking Interpol's help to track down the group.

The hip-hop group Jiu Yi Yi had expressed shock over the local rapper’s arrest on Sunday.

Namewee had also contended that the leaked version was not the finished version.
