DPM's wants evidence on Najib's alleged RM4b

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants his predecessor Muhyiddin Yassin to show evidence over the latter's claim that there was almost RM4 billion in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.

Meanwhile, Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed sang praise of Zahid, saying that he was previously arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for fighting cronyism, corruption and nepotism when Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the prime minister.

In another development, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) pro-tem committee member Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman slammed Umno for being "hypocritical".

TangkapMO1 campaign continues

Student activists say they will press on with roadshows after their TangkapMO1 rally last Saturday.

They also rejected accusations that their movement was hijacked by the opposition.

Meanwhile, pro-government Gerakan Merah protested outside the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, demanding that police take action against the students for organising the TangkapMO1 rally.

Minister Ismail Sabri warned that stern action will be taken against Mara students if they were found to have participated in "illegal rallies".

More graft controversies

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) continued its blitz against alleged corruption in a local bank, nabbing a 'Tan Sri' and freezing almost RM1 million in his bank account.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin vowed there would be no cover up on the evidence handed to him by Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on alleged wrongdoings by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

In another development, Penang Gerakan questioned if the father of a DAP state assemblyperson was involved in taking bribes for affordable housing units.

The Court of Appeal declared the government's move to ban Bersih T-shirts during the Bersih 4 rally as "unreasonable".

A group of contractors claimed the government owed them RM26 million for building a steam boiler plant but Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani said the government will not bail them out with taxpayers' money.
