Flash floods in the Klang Valley which occurred due to heavy rain caused traffic jams during the morning rush hour.

Traffic was at a standstill for most areas, as seen through photos uploaded on Facebook by Informasi Malaysia.

Pictures of the Federal Highway leading to the Subang Skypark Terminal show several cars submerged in water.

It was the same situation at the Glenmarie LRT station, with cars huddled to the right side of the road due to the high water levels.

Updates from the National Flood Monitoring Centre on its Facebook page Public Info Banjir also warned residents at several areas in Selangor and the Federal Territory to exercise caution.

The heavy rain, it said, had caused water levels at surrounding rivers in the Klang Valley to rise.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department on its Facebook page also issued a statement confirming heavy rain and thunderstorms experienced in several districts in Selangor, including Petaling, Kuala Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Klang, as well as the Federal Territory and Putrajaya, which will continue until afternoon.
