Umno Youth fingers 'funders of anti-Najib movement'

Umno Youth exco member Armand Azha Abu Hanifah named a tycoon's son and a known proxy for corporate figure as funders of a movement against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

He said he will lodge a police report against the individuals, known to be close associates of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, over the matter.

Water and politics mix, again

Distributing bottles of drinking water in Semenyih, Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar ticked off state Menteri Besar Azmin Ali for being too busy politicking to resolve the issue of dry taps in Selangor.

Meanwhile, Kumpulan Pengurusan Air Selangor said water supply in the Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang regions were restored in stages, after river pollution forced water treatment centres to close from Sept 22 to 24.

In Penang, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng rejected water rationing, despite the drought, and promised investors of continuous supply.

PM's brother concedes 1MDB damaging

CIMB bank chairperson and PM's brother Nazir Razak conceded that 1MDB had made it very difficult for institutions like CIMB to promote Malaysia.

In an interview with Euromoney, he added that he had constant worries about the growing nexus between politics and business in Malaysia.

Consumer activist Muhammad Shaani Abdullah decried discrimination over the halal logo to be issued by the Malaysia Institute of International Islamic Cooperation (Ikiam) and the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) for goods made by Muslim producers, as it would create "class divisions" between Muslim and non-Muslim producers.
