Since PM is innocent, Pandikar need not fear 'sub judice'

YOURSAY | 'If the ministers are telling the truth, they should have no fear being subpoenaed.'

Ex-Federal Court judge rubbishes Pandikar's sub judice cloak

Drngsc: Lawyer Mohd Haniff Khatri Abdulla, your argument is very sound. There is nothing wrong with discussing the US Department of Justice (DOJ) suit because they claim that Prime Minister Najib Razak is not involved.

Those involved are businessman Jho Low, and Najib's stepson Riza Aziz. What is wrong with discussing their roles?

Anyway, ministers, if they are telling the truth, should have no fear about being subpoenaed.

It sure looks like, as we all suspected, they have been lying through their teeth. Then what House speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia did makes sense. He is covering up and to stop discussion on the matter.

The issue of sub judice does not arise at all, Pandikar. Which university did you come from? However, the issue of cari makan does arise, obviously.

Katusha: What do you expect from this not so 'mulia' (honourable) Pandikar when, just as his previous rulings in Parliament have shown, he has taken upon himself to protect the very people to whom he is beholden to for his present position?

Dont Just Talk: Pandikar with his limited knowledge in law tried to speak like a lawyer, citing sub judice, when MPs proposed a motion on 1MDB to be discussed in Parliament.

What the heck do Malaysians want a Parliament for, if issues of national interests cannot be discussed, just because a dumb speaker said so?

Looking at the colour of Pandikar's face on TV7 prime time 8pm news was scary, it was reddish like a ripe tomato waiting to explode.

Pandikar, if you cannot handle the stress of a Parliament speaker, take leave before you suffer a stroke and live to regret it.

Anonymous 2325191438313157: If what they all say in Parliament is the truth and if Prime Minister Najib Razak says that he has done nothing wrong, then what's wrong in helping the US in its attempt to recover 1MDB’s money?

So, whether it's sub judice or some kind of jaundice, what is the problem, Pandikar?

Tikusmati: This is another case of making up the rules as you go along, which can only mean no thought has gone into it and no standards.

Worldly Wise: Pandikar should know that US subpoenas are not valid here.

Anonymous_1388029052: Since Pandikar's knowledge of the law is so elementary, he should do the honourable thing and resign as speaker of the House.

But then again in Malaysia, where can we find honourable men in government nowadays, especially amongst Umno members?

RR: This speaker must go back to law school to refresh his legal studies. Shame to put his intelligence to stupidity for his own survival.

6th Generation Immigrant: It's so obvious. Everything they deny is actually the truth. Every law they quote seems not applicable. The further they try to hide 1MDB, the more prominent it flares.

The faster they try to kill the 1MDB episode, the faster it is resuscitated each time. Obviously, something is not right.

Has anyone noticed that there were only two truths in this whole 1MDB episode so far:

1) The PM admitting money did go into his account, and

2) Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan admitting that Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) is the PM of Malaysia.

How much more goal-keeping can these guys get away with? Something is going to give way soon.

Cmfoo: Those who are guilty in protecting MO1 are afraid even of their own shadow. If it is the truth that MO1 is innocent, why the avoidance and need to hide behind the sub judice excuse?

Freethinker: "1MDB has nothing to do with the PM. There is no missing money from 1MDB, but there shall be no question asked by the representatives of the people."

It doesn't look very innocent to me, Mr MO1.

Goldee: They have everything to hide, and the truth is painful. Eventually, the truth will prevail.

Abasir: Umno's ‘speaker’, like the rest of the ‘ketuanan’ cabinet is not there because of his superior intellect, his unimpeachable integrity or his deeply-held belief in speaking the truth.
