DAP's Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong says there is no point for the police to waste time investigating an Oct 1 report lodged against him on his presence at a Bersih event because he was never there.

"More importantly, it is a complete waste of time of police resources to investigate Bersih participants just to harass them.

"It is important to note that the investigators are from the Criminal Investigation Department, which is already short-handed, and I sincerely sympathise with them having to also investigate political cases, which shall not have been their brief in the first place," Liew said in a statement.

He called on the police to stop intimidating and harassing Bersih participants.
