Now even Myanmar has followed Zunar’s example

YOURSAY | ‘For IGP, the only thing worse than a Zunar who doesn't agree with him, is a Zunar who does.’

Zunar heeds IGP's suggestion, draws 'Donald Dedak'

Trueglitter: Our society is abundantly blessed in having a political cartoonist with calibre and dedication like Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque, popularly known as Zunar, who has emerged to tickle the literary palate of even the most exacting reader when our mundane lifestyle is seemingly inept at nourishing and invigorating our mental well-being.

The free world would undeniably and unhesitatingly consider Zunar a "living treasure" with his uncanny deft at portraying caricatures of individuals, particularly PM Najib Razak and his controversial and attention-seeking wife, Rosmah Mansor, pointedly deserving criticisms which readers are never tired to enjoy.

The incarceration of Zunar or threats from police chief Khalid Abu Bakar should be avoided as it invariably will only serve to invite international condemnation at the high-handedness of the tyrannical and obnoxious Umno-BN government.

It is an opportune reminder for the police chief that the more oppressed Zunar is, the more popular and endearing he will become.

Anonymous 2362021442199789: The IGP in his wisdom suggested that Zunar do 'nice drawings' like Donald Duck and McDonalds.

Zunar picked up on the suggestion and has done 'Donald Dedak' instead of Donald Duck. Will he follow up with 'McDedak' in place of 'McDonalds'?

Vijay47: Khalid has learned the hard way - that the only thing worse than a Zunar who doesn't agree with him, is a Zunar who does.

Ipoh Pp: It looks like Zunar and the Malaysian public are having the last laugh.

Myanmar media lampoons 'master of misdirection' Najib

Existential Turd: Najib's cynicism in capitalising on the plight of Rohingya for his own selfish political survival has backfired spectacularly.

Not only being ridiculed locally, he is now being lampooned globally.

Anonymous_1421806811: I think Myanmar cartoonist Kyaw Thu Yein depicted Najib's situation accurately.

A man accused of corruption with his future at stake in his own country yet trying to meddle in the affairs of another country in a manner which is uncharacteristic of a nation's leader. I am sure more cartoons such as this will emerge.

Sadly, this is what our nation's leaders have become - they can spot a mosquito a mile away yet completely blind to an elephant right in front of their eyes.

The Analyser: If you want to judge Najib on the basis of his human rights record, then do that. But don’t judge his human rights record on the basis of his corruptibility.

The trouble here is that you don’t really care about his human rights record (which is probably much the same as your own)... all you care about is money.

Worldly Wise: The bag in the cartoon labelled ‘corruption' is incorrect. No 1 has long passed that stage.

If attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali found that there was a personal donation of RM2,600,000,000 from the Saudi king to No 1, why not exhibit the pay-in (deposit) slip from His Majesty?

What about the remaining RM25,000,000,000 not accounted for in 1MDB? And why are all foreign and local investors not undertaking any more projects in Malaysia?

Report: Myanmar to lodge official complaint against Najib

Monty: There are many perspectives to the plight of the Rohingya people, but they have suffered much.

If the Myanmar government are so concerned about Malaysia respecting the Asean charter, they should also respect the United Nations charter about respecting the dignity of Rohingya.

Thus far, the Rohingya have been treated most cruelly and they had to flee the country they had lived for generations.

I don't care for the reasons why Najib is taking this matter so seriously, but good on him. Malaysians should fully support the government's stand on this matter.

SusahKes: There was a time when the circle of politicians that form Asean would cover each other's back by mumbling adjectives such as "non-interference".

Thus, all of them could closed one eye to the atrocities and sham democracy in their various backyards. And everybody lived happily, knowing that no Asean member will bug the other on human rights.

Well, our PM has outdone himself. He has broken that rule, all in the name of political expediency. And so, he now invites ridicule from the likes of Myanmar.

Anonymous 759201436321741: This time I think Najib might have made a major diplomatic blunder. How can a head of state partake in a demonstration against another nation?

He must have been very pre-occupied with other more pressing matters or very ill-advised to have participated in the demonstration. And what if Burma demands an apology?

I suppose the picture of DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Najib and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang raising their hands together in protests will go viral. Another first for Malaysia, I suppose.

Worldly Wise: Hadi ought to be condemned. He did not condemn the mass killing of Hindus in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan government.

Being a 'ulama' (religious scholar), he must abide by the highest principles of moral conduct. According to Martin Luther King Jr, an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.

Hadi supports racist hegemony and religious discrimination. Islam is not merely for those who profess Islam. Its sacrosanct principles of truth, justice and fairness are universal. Hadi must protest against any injustice anywhere to anyone.

Thickskin: This is another feather in Zunar's cap. Even Myanmar is following his example.
