The opposition has been criticised for blaming Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for the cancellation of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s invitation to the installation of the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

According to a pro-Umno portal, the opposition creates the perception that everything happens on the instruction of the government, in order to sow hatred towards the leadership.

“Their propaganda will be enhanced if they can link all issues to Najib and (his wife) Rosmah Mansor, even though these issues have nothing to do them.

“If possible, they would want to link it to the prime minister even when they are bitten by mosquitoes...,” MyKMU.net said.

In the latest move, the portal claimed there is an attempt to create an impression of a political motive behind the cancellation of Mahathir’s invitation, and implicate the prime minister.

It pointed out that the letter was signed by the Keeper of the Ruler’s Seal, which meant that the document is an official communique from the Conference of Rulers and not related to political sentiments.

Furthermore, the portal said, it is the prerogative of the rulers whether or not to allocate seats for the former prime minister, and this should not be questioned.

Meanwhile, MyKMU.net also questioned whether Mahathir’s daughter Marina had insulted the rulers with her Facebook posting on the matter.

Yesterday, Marina had uploaded the letter on Facebook with the hashtag, #howlowcanugo.

Based on this, the portal asked if Marina considered Istana Negara to be “low class”.
