Dr M calls PAS ‘confused

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad called PAS a “confused” party over wanting to work with the opposition or the government for the general election.

Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu said early polls was unlikely due to the slowing economy.

His deputy Salahuddin Ayub said Pakatan Harapan will hammer out a common logo for the next general election on Tuesday.

He added that Amanah leaders will also be declaring their assets to the public.

UN seeks Malaysia visit

Four UN special rapporteurs for human rights have asked Malaysia when it intends to accept their requests since 2011 for a visit to ensure compliance with international standards.

Electoral reform group Bersih criticised Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed for defending the “less than human” treatment of their chief Maria Chin Abdullah during her detention.

An international group of editorial cartoonists urged Malaysian authorities not to persecute local cartoonist Zunar and to drop the sedition charges against him.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan now concedes the World Bank did sanction China Communications Construction Company but stressed that the East Coast Rail Link project was not affected as the ban only applied to road and bridge projects and will expire in January 2017.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Hamzah Zainudin said Malaysia was not affected by Myanmar’s ban on sending workers to Malaysia as the country was not a rebutted Putrajaya’s accusation that it was part of a movement to topple the government.

Looking ahead

Tomorrow will be the second and last day of Parti Amanah Negara’s convention taking place in Shah Alam.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be visiting the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism (Maha) expo in Serdang and will later officially open the Indian Progressive Front’s annual general assembly in Kajang.
