Subri Kader hopes that Malaysians will continue to pray that his son, Mohd Faiz will be able to continue to bring glory to Malaysia by winning the Fifa Puskas Award for the most beautiful goal in the world.

"Hopefully with the blessings of Allah, the prayers of supporters will be fulfilled," said Subri when contacted by Bernama today.

He hoped that the event would inspire the people of Malaysia to continue to carve a name at the international level.

Although he could not accompany Mohd Faiz to Zurich, Switzerland for the award ceremony, Subri, who resides in Ayer Hitam, Kedah would send his son to the Penang International Airport today.

"I will watch the direct telecast on the award ceremony on television," he said.

Commenting on the goal scored by his son, Subri described it as the reward for Mohd Faiz's commitment to improve his game tirelessly.

The goal that he described as "defying the law of physics" was scored by Mohd Faiz when he helped the Panther squad to beat Pahang 4-1 in the Super League match at the City Stadium, Penang on Feb 16 last year.

Two other candidates for the award are Jonath Marlone Azevedo da Silva from Brazil and Venezuelan woman, Danisuka Rodriguez.
