'Don't make negative statements against Adenan'

The people are asked not to make negative statements that are racist and slanderous against the late Chief Minister Adenan Satem in the social media.

Sarawak Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Minister Fatimah Abdullah said they should consider the feelings of his family members and show respect to those who had passed away.

"More so as the former chief minister had contributed so much for the people of the state and country as a whole.

"This sort of things should not have happened. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say. We don’t want this sort of things to happen," she told Bernama in Sarikei today.

Earlier she presented red packets and hampers to 199 beneficiaries of the Welfare Department in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year at the Civics Centre here.

Fatimah said such acts could cause public feelings of unhappiness and, for which, action could be taken under the Penal Code as well as Communications and Multimedia Act.
