A 2m-long crocodile was seen crossing the road at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) students’ apartment grounds at Taman Desa Ilmu, Kota Samarahan, last night.

The crocodile’s appearance shocked the Rafflesia Apartment residents who then reported the sighting to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

Its assistant director of operations, Farhan Sufyan Borhan said they received the report at 10.26pm before seven firemen from the Kota Samarahan station rushed to the location.

“However, when the firemen arrived at the location, the crocodile had disappeared, believed to have gone back into the drain near the apartment,” he said in Kota Samarahan today.

Farhan Sufyan said the department had informed the Sarawak Forestry Corporation about the incident for further action.
