'Trucker attack unprovoked'; Dr M vs PAS; Harapan to allow UEC

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Trucker says attack unprovoked

The lorry driver who was assaulted by a luxury car owner in an apparent parking dispute at a condominium in Ampang, Selangor, said the attack was unprovoked.

Nasrul Faiz Zulfahmi, 25, who was assaulted by a group said his employer was allegedly threatened by the assailants, described as "like big time gangsters".

Police said four men and a woman have been arrested in relation to the case, and a couple of other suspects are still at large.

Dr M says opposition must take on PAS

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the opposition pact no longer needs to try negotiate a deal with PAS, and instead be ready to take on the Islamist party in possible multicornered fights involving PAS and BN in the 14th general election.

Meanwhile, PAS director of research Zuhdi Marzuki said Mahathir is showing his dictatorial streak by forcing the opposition to bend to his will.

Harapan vows to recognise UEC

Pakatan Harapan will recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) if it wins the 14th general election, the coalition's chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said.

Meanwhile, Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Majlis Amanah Rakyat-owned (Mara) Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) does not recognise UEC, contradicting Mara chairperson Annuar Musa who said the certification is valid at the private varsity.

Other Kinibites

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak denied that MCA had requested for the post of deputy prime minister to be given to the party, as claimed by Mahathir.

Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party should emulate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, who were both unpopular figures who managed to win elections through sophisticated social media campaigning.

Police detained 39 male participants of a motivational camp at a resort in Bentong near Kuantan, for allegedly behaving indecently in public by stripping for a game called 'ALL OUT'.
