Salleh: DAP grassroots leaders unhappy with Kit Siang, Guan Eng

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said the resignation of four DAP lawmakers in Malacca proved that the party's grassroots leaders were not happy about DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang "flirting" with Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said their unhappiness towards Kit Siang and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng appeared to have now reached breaking point.

The credibility and integrity of both DAP and Pakatan Harapan, he said, had suffered in the last two years because of the unholy alliance between the former prime minister and Kit Siang.

"All the gains the opposition made in 2008 and 2013 are going to be lost in the next general election," Salleh said in his latest posting on sskeruak.blogspot.my, last night.

The minister said Mahathir and Kit Siang "have demonstrated their lack of principles and morals when they now embrace each other, whereas in the past they have said many nasty things about each other".

Three state assemblypersons and one member of Parliament from Malacca DAP quit the party yesterday.

The assemblymen are Lim Jak Wong (Bachang), Chin Choon Seong (Kesidang) and Goh Leong San (Duyong), while the MP is Sim Tong Him (Kota Melaka).

Salleh said there were also Malays who supported Harapan but were unhappy with Mahathir's role in the opposition.

The minister said no one could doubt that both Mahathir and Kit Siang were serving their personal political agenda at the expense of their voters' interests.

He believes the voters would show their unhappiness in the next general election.
