Selangor Umno rejects Jamal’s resignation

Selangor Umno has rejected Sungai Besar division chief Jamal Md Yunos’ resignation, citing his performance in ensuring victory in the Sungai Besar by-election.

Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar said the matter is now up to the Umno supreme council.

‘Malacca reps quitting DAP a gift to BN’

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the resignation of four Malacca elected representatives from DAP is a “gift” for BN in the next general election.

Guan Eng and his father, party stalwart Lim Kit Siang are scheduled to be in Malacca today to assess the damage from the resignations which halved the party's representation in the state assembly.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Daid Keruak said the resignations showed the party’s grassroots are unhappy with DAP’s decision to work with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

TMJ joins FAM presidency race

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim will go head to head against Umno information chief Annuar Musa in the race to become Football Association of Malaysia president on March 25.

This came after other nominees, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and former Home Ministry secretary-general Aseh Che Mat, withdrew.

Khairy said he will not throw his hat in if the prince decides to contest.
