N Korea told to abide by Malaysian law

North Korea accused Malaysia of colluding with “hostile forces” after failing to secure the release of the body of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said North Korea must abide by Malaysian law and insisted that DNA from Jong-nam’s family is needed before the probe can be completed.

The government echoed a similar message, with Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam stating that the forensic process had been endorsed by the cabinet.

Meanwhile, police arrested and remanded a North Korean suspect to assist in the probe into Jong-nam’s murder.

Landslide victory for BN in Tanjong Datu

BN achieved a landslide victory in Tanjong Datu, with its candidate Jamilah Anu garnering a 6,443-vote majority, while her opponents lost their deposits.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the victory meant more progress for the people there.

Act 355 rally draws 55k

More than 55,000 people gathered for the nine-hour Act 355 rally in Kuala Lumpur.

The counter-protest in Taman Jaya accused organisers of ferrying students to the Act 355 rally, which Pahang PAS head Rosli Abdul Jabar confirmed but said it was meant to teach them to love their religion.

PAS supporters’ wing information chief Balachandran G Krishnan claimed non-Muslims opposing amendments to Act 355 were ignorant.
