Najib attends closed-door meeting with Sabah Umno

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak attended a closed door meeting with Sabah Umno members in Kota Kinabalu tonight.

Najib, who is Umno president, arrived at the Sabah Umno building at 8pm, accompanied by Chief Minister Musa Aman, who is also Sabah Umno chairperson, and Deputy Chief Minister Yahya Hussin, who is Sabah Umno secretary.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Wanita Umno exco member Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said Najib advised Sabah Umno members to continue to work for the welfare of the people.

Rosnah said the Umno president urged members to go to the ground to solve the people's problems.

"This advice by Datuk Seri Najib is important because he is concerned with the development in Sabah.

"He is a role model because as the prime minister, he can choose to stay in Kuala Lumpur, but he always comes to Sabah so that we do not feel marginalised," Rosnah told reporters.

The meeting was part of Najib's programmes during his two-day work visit to the state.

The prime minister began his visit earlier today by opening the Lupak Meluas People's Housing (PPR) Project in Sandakan and going on a walkabout at the Harbour Square.

Tomorrow, he is scheduled to officiate the opening of the Sipitang Pan-Borneo project in Sindumin before going on another walkabout in Putatan.

In the evening, Najib is scheduled to attend the wedding reception of Senallang assemblyperson Nasir Sakaran's son before heading back to Kuala Lumpur.
