Forget the godfather, MACC can only go after small fry

YOURSAY | ‘As long as the corrupt tops are roaming free, there will be more lower level corruption.’

Amanah: After Johor exco, MACC must go after 'godfather'

CQ Muar: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should be lauded for its courage to expose and nab Johor exco member Abd Latiff Bandi for alleged graft often rumoured in the state.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and we hope more of such unwholesome "activities" can be brought to light under the present MB Khaled Nordin's administration in order to end the rumours.

In this respect, we are glad His Highness Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar has made known his non-interference in the matter.

Drngsc: Who is the 'godfather', Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub? MO1 (Malaysian Official 1)?

As long as MO1 is not properly investigated, we will never think that the MACC is serious in fighting corruption.

The crime that MO1 allegedly committed is so obvious and the whole world knows.

Anonymous 539281478077880: I don't think MACC can have a free hand to go after the 'godfather' as it needs further instructions from the country’s 'highest official'. This is the furthest they can go, I suppose.

Getting the ‘small fish’ and deliberately letting the ‘big fish’ escape is the trend of the MACC today. Their hands are tied and I feel sorry for them.

Anonymous #13114320: As long as the corrupt top officials are roaming free, there will be more lower-level corruption. These top officials will just find a replacement and the cycle will continue.

MACC officers probably worry about their careers if they dare touch those at the top, but they are allowed to catch the smaller fry.

Even former MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed had to ‘retire’ early, so who else can do it?

Anonymous_40f4: All these arrests and charging of Umno Baru people and civil servants is only a 'wayang' to fool the rakyat ahead of GE14. After GE14, all will be forgotten and these corruption cases will go cold.

Come GE15, the 'wayang' will be repeated by BN/Umno Baru.

Johor exco remanded seven days over graft probe

Anonymous #00830595: Handbags, again! I hope the hard work of the MACC will continue and not stop after the general election, which is not far away.

Also, investigate everyone, be it the opposition or the government, without fear or favour as the rakyat keep on getting a raw deal.

Victor Johan: After Abd Latiff entered the courtroom, his supporters started to recite prayers.

Are these supporters praying for righteousness to take place or for him to be taken off the hook for his (alleged) corruption practices?

Bob The Builder: Those so-called "supporters" of Abd Latiff must be nuts for supporting someone who has allegedly abused his power in office.

Those found guilty should be jailed for what they did - they betrayed the rakyat (public) who had supported them.

This is Umno, just like their MO1. Mahathir said it some two decades ago - it is easy to tell who is corrupted by "looking at their lifestyle".

Those who live beyond their means are the ones who are likely to be corrupted, just like this Johor exco and his son, with so many luxury cars, luxury handbags and a surplus of cash in hand and so forth.

Abasir: That's right … hugs, prayers, tears and the party's sympathy for a nationalist and patriot with 26 luxury vehicles, 45 bank accounts, 150 handbags ... unjustly charged under Section 17 of the MACC Act and Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

I think he is now eligible for a Tan Sri title in the next federal list. Heck, he is also qualified to be PM.

Fair&Just: Imagine, the small shark's houses are filled to the brim with expensive goods and money. What about the big sharks like MO1? How filthily stashed up are their houses?

When we gather the goods one has bought from all over the world, the loot of one big shark may even fill up the whole of Petronas Twin Towers.

Anonymous_1421806811: Indeed, Malaysians will not see true justice until MACC goes after the one allegedly responsible for the biggest corruption case in the world, MO1.

I wonder how many luxury bags will be found should his residence be raided?
