Former DAP firebrand Hew Kuan Yau has been released from police remand, a day after he was taken to hospital following a hunger strike

Known by his fans as "Superman", Hew was arrested for a Facebook posting on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor while condemning the earlier censorhip of the Disney movie 'Beauty and the Beast'.

"Superman is finally released. He can finally eat his first meal since Monday," said DAP's Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching on Facebook.
