Want to hone press release writing skills by making it newsworthy? As part of Campuskini’s corporate social responsibility, it is offering one-tenth the market price of what corporate trainers offer.

The course fee is also claimable under the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).

Yes. Campuskini is offering it at RM288, compared with RM2,500 normally charged by corporate trainers.

The full-day writing and media relations workshop will be held on April 1.

Participants will also get a complimentary book (worth RM45) which covers MH370’s Lessons on Crisis Communications and how to write press releases. Ultimately, your press releases will get published or aired in the media.

Malaysiakini editor-in-chief Steven Gan said participants in the one-day workshop can learn the best way to garner better publicity for their respective organisations.

“Through the writing of effective press releases, you will gain a professional insight into writing newsworthy press releases.

“In addition, there will also be activities and role play on how to face the media in a press conference and learn how to answer tricky questions," Gan said.

This will be the eighth workshop

This is the eighth workshop that he will conduct at Campuskini.

Past participants of the Writing, PR and Media Relations workshop have described it as “unorthodox, unique and enlightening”.

“I particularly liked how Krishnamoorthy guided and even made us write four press releases in the workshop itself, in a news story style.”

“Krishnamoorthy was very open-minded in sharing his knowledge, experience, as well as his contacts, and Campuskini’s venue was excellent,” said participant Clinton Ang, a chief executive officer of a glove manufacturing company.

Media coach and associate professor M Krishnamoorthy brings decades of media experience, in various roles, under his belt.

With more than 30 years of experience as news and feature writer, Krishnamoorthy was also an investigative reporter with The Star.

He has highlighted society’s concerns and has gone undercover as a beggar, security guard, blind man, handicapped, salesman, Member of Parliament and an executive catching taxi touts at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

In addition to teaching in an university, he currently freelances as a fixer/coordinator for CNN, BBC, German and Australian TV networks and the New York Times.

He is also a certified HRDF professional trainer.
