A businessman who allegedly offered the Sultan of Johor a RM2 million bribe to obtain a "Tan Sri" title for another party was remanded for five days today, reports Star Online.

He will be held from today until April 4 to assist in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into the matter.

The 54-year-old "Tan Sri" who was remanded under Section 16 of the MACC Act, reportedly arrived at the Putrajaya magistrate's ourt at 9.30am, clad in lock-up garb and escorted by MACC officers.

He was later brought before magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman who issued the remand order.

According to the daily's report, the businessman from Klang was represented by lawyers K Kumaraendran, JR Tey and Joshua Kevin.

Yesterday, the MACC issued an ultimatum that he had till midnight to turn himself in or have his identity revealed.

Saturday last week, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar claimed in his official Facebook page that he was offered RM2 million to suggest a person's name to the Chief Secretary to the Government for a "Tan Sri" title.

The monarch was not amused, and later brought the matter to the MACC's attention earlier this week.
