Ampang PKR Youth leader Adam Rosly has been remanded for five days to facilitate investigations into his wealth.

The 28-year-old politician, who has a Datuk title, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday after his statement was recorded.

According to the New Straits Times, magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman issued the remand order, which expires on April 18, at the magistrate's court in Putrajaya this morning.

Adam, who is also the special officer to Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, had arrived at court around 9.30am, accompanied by two MACC officers and his lawyer.

Adam's wealth became a focal point late last year, when Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos took journalists on a helicopter for an aerial view of the PKR man's castle-like bungalow.

Following this, Adam claimed that he was able to afford the house because he is a successful businessman.

"In this day and age, it is not abnormal for the young to be rich. I can assure that I made my money from hard work," he had said.

He also denied Jamal's accusation that the house cost RM7 million, claiming that he had purchased it at an auction for RM1 million.

At one point, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli had urged Adam to declare his assets in order to silence the critics.

However, Adam said he would do so if there is an official directive from the party.

“I agree with Rafizi's call to declare my assets, but for what reason since I am not a civil servant? But, if it is a general and collective directive from the party to clear the air, I am ready to do so,” he had said.
