A teenager was found dead after he slept wearing earphones, which were plugged into his charging mobile phone, in Bukit Baru, Malacca.
Syamirul Armizie Adenan, 19, was found motionless by his mother at about 7am, who opened his locked bedroom door using a spare key when he did not respond to her calls, the New Straits Times reported.
Malacca Criminal Investigation Department chief Kamaluddin Kassim said the mobile phone was connected to a power bank.
There were also burn marks on the boy's left shoulder, where the power bank was placed but it is unclear if the gadget had exploded, the daily reported.
The body was sent to the Malacca Hospital for a post-mortem.
