Johari, don't worry if you're not guilty

If the accusation is true, whatever means is used to expose it is immaterial. Nobody can turn allegations into facts if the offence was not committed.

On Johari denies taking bribes, raps police

Peter: In the malaysiakini report, Johari said this: "It is not fair if allegations on websites are made into facts and a basis for something that a leader is accused of."

I really fail to understand the logic behind his argument. He might have meant that allegations on websites are not reliable and thereby could not be used as a basis to accuse wrongdoings of leaders.

Dear Mr Johari, you are an internal security minister and should know full well that our print media are under your control. More often than not, press reports in our media are hopelessly not reliable and truthful. Thus, many Malaysians have to resort to the Internet to find out the truth. I would say reports on Internet have a higher percentage of truth than news media. You may not want to admit it.

That argument aside, Mr Johari, if the accusation is true, whatever means is used to expose it is immaterial. Nobody can turn allegations into facts if the offence was not committed. As you and I believe, truth will always prevail.

MSY: It is interesting that Parti Keadilan Rakyat and DAP were mentioned in the 10pm English TV news. Normally you will never hear anything about the opposition. In fact of late, it is encouraging to see that efforts by the NGOs, bloggers and opposition parties are making an impact on government policies.

With the revelation of toll agreements between the government and concessionaires, Gerak's release of the allegations of corruption involving the ACA chief - and various other revelations by malaysiakini - it shows that somebody in Putrajaya is reading Internet news, perhaps even the blogs! This is the beginning of the power of the people.

On Whistleblower: Attempts to discredit me

Sadirah K: The Parlimentary Select Committee on Integrity should ensure that the questions which the public would like clarified are answered. Why was action not taken against the woman who brought such a serious accusation against a very senior member of the police force? In addition, we are told that several reports were filed by her at different police stations. The very fact that this issue was not followed up shows collusion on the part of the police.

If such scant regard is given to police reports then anyone can report even scandalous things about another person. Is the police encouraging such behaviour with regards to police reports. Anyway, we all know that 'police reports' are just for procedural requirements. How many who have made police reports have had a follow-up call from the police?

Secondly, the accusation is being made against none other than a former ACA chief. He surely knows his job and if he has committed wrongdoings than he must likewise be held to account. However, if the investigations by the police is superficial then the police should equally be held accountable. After all, the first report was submitted to the then IGP, who was someone to be subsequently imprisoned for violent conduct.

The PSD (Public Service Department) has apparently initiated action against the whistleblower. This will only confirm the view that those in the upper echelons would do anything to support their kind. That is why fighting corruption without an independent commission is ineffective.

The Select Committee should also ask the ACA chief to produce letters showing that he had secured permission from the Public Services Department to undertake business activities. Otherwise, this is a clear violation of the General Orders and he should be held to account. The IGP should also be asked to clarify on this issue. We must salute Parliament for it is now evolving into a body that holds the people to account.

Malaysia08: It appears that the whistleblower is being investigated. What's the matter? Is this a red herring to divert attention from the explosive issue about the ACA chief ? It is time that we get down to the brass tacks and the whistleblower.

Don't just talk. Don't form committees after committees after committees. Don't just set up Institute of Integrity after Institute of Integrity.

Where is the integrity? Show us by actions, not just words. The world will judge you by your deeds, not by your words. Act and act swiftly. Don't drag your feet. Otherwise, people will say, you're just an empty vessel.

On Don't try Zulkipli in court of public opinion

HL: I think KJ John seems to be unnecessarily confusing the situation. If the necessary government organs have not been working as it should be; if this state of affairs is because of the ex-PM's direct involvement; then quite rightly, the Parliamentary Select Committee is the right body. No question about that.

On Samy: They can go to hell!

Albert Wong:

Datuk Samy Vellu again uttered "they can go to hell". This is definitely not the first time. Shouldn't a man of his status be more careful with his words? Does he not know that this reflects lowly of a person and display what a unrefined and poor upbringing the person is? Does he not understand that cursing people to go to hell is most unbecoming of any decent human being?

On Anwar: Back us if you agree with our policies

Dhammika: I strongly agree with Anwar Ibrahim in calling for Malaysians to support the opposition. It is the people who have the vested power for change. It is time that our beloved country have a two-party system, otherwise Malaysians will be the victims of a draconian administration.

The present government led by AAB (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) has proven to be inefficient, corrupted, unethical and dictatorial. Please do not harbour any fear - especially the business people - that if opposition win, there will be chaos and civil unrest. This is the fear the BN has instill into our mind. Who wants unrest in the first place?

Let's all walk to the ballot box with one conviction in mind - CHANGE.

Marginalised Citizen:

It's not surprising to hear Lim Keng Yaik, Koh Tsu Koon and Ong Ka Ting made such statements that the Chinese are not marginalised, let alone being discriminated. They will even sell their souls and love ones as long as they can stay in office. The Chinese should remember that and never ever vote for these people again.
