Samy must go

It is time to have a massive peaceful rally outside the MIC HQ to get S Samy Vellu out of office. He has failed the Indians miserably.

On Samy blasted for 'lies and half-truths'

Makkal Sakthi: Though the Hindraf rally gathered a huge support from Indian Malaysians and the rest alike, the MIC people seemed to have not got the message. They been trying very hard to counterattack Hindraf, trumpeting locally and overseas that the Indians are doing well in Malaysia and there are no issues.

The MIC people are of the same race as Hindraf’s supporters. Why should anyone do anything to defeat the purpose of Hindraf's struggle? The Indians have trusted MIC for many years since independence but the MIC has failed to uplift their lives.

Since more Indians have realised this and more and more people are becoming anti-MIC, why can't we have another rally in front of the MIC HQ to demand S Samy Vellu’s resignation? This man has no dignity and self-respect. He has failed miserably in his duty but he still wants his post.

Ninety percent of the Indians are sick and tired of the MIC while the remaining 10 percent are MIC cronies. The 90 percent are the majority, why can’t we decide who should represent the Indians in Malaysia rather than let the culprit continue to fool us?

On Anwar not a threat, BN is

Mooshie Mooshie: Does it cross our minds why we as responsible citizens elect the people we do? When we go to elect the person who are going to represent us - be it in Parliament or the state legislative body - do we know what we are doing? Are we doing it as a social responsibility or because we are told to do so? Or just because every one else are doing its?

It has become very scary now. Look at the people we have put in these places. I need not say much about their misdemeanors. Worse, and the biggest sin committed by these people is the very fact that they are supposed to represent us.

The people whom we have chosen do not dare speak for us no more. We do not know why. Are they gagged? Are they scared to speak up only to be whipped by their own kind? Or have they become mute after being elected..

Do we want these geezers to represent us? Of course not. They cannot speak for us - they are from now on barred.

On 'School fees abolished': No such thing

YSM: We all now know that government’s declaration of free school textbooks for school students is nothing more than extending the ‘Skim Pinjaman Buku Teks’ to all. The condition of using these ‘free’ textbooks is that the students are not allowed to write in them. How can one go through school without being able to write meanings, definitions or sideline notes on the textbooks?

Perhaps the education minister had done it in his university days but I simply cannot believe that the Education Ministry can come up with such an idea.

This is the first year for ‘free’ text books. Can you imagine the condition of the textbooks after the third year? Many parents who can afford it would prefer to buy their children’s textbooks and keep these ‘free’ books on the shelf.

Instead of announcing ‘free’ textbooks as an election gimmick, the government should have implemented this scheme properly by lettting parents know that it is a loan and if they wish, they cab opt not to take it.

Beware of the spin that goes around these days. Don’t believe everything you hear.

On 'Racial action plan': Umno says no such thing

Yee: The racial tension in Malaysia has gotten worse over the last decade under the incapable hands of the BN government which has divided us all by race. It is the BN government which insists upon the perpetual continuation of the NEP which, among other things, gives privileges and rights to a certain race irregardless of social and economic standing.

A millionaire, for example, is entitled to a discount when buying a new house simply because he belongs to a particular race. This is the reason for all the racial tensions we in Malaysia are going through.

On Umno must stop blaming Indian community

Gary: Many Chinese, too, have quietly suffered under many unfair policies. Malaysia cannot prosper like Singapore because Umno does not know how to govern the country. They don’t have the talent, unlike Singapore’s PAP which is fair to all races. When the Malays cannot perform, they blame the Chinese.

Hishammuddin said that if the Chinese earn RM1.60, Malays only earn RM1. Why? Despite being helped by the government through the NEP for the past 30 years, Malays still cannot achieve what the Chinese have. FYI, the Chinese don’t get help from the government.

Umno should know the reasons but instead they keep blaming the Chinese. The Umno-led government is incompetent. That is the truth. They only take care of their cronies. A brainless politician from Johor said that we should not let Singaporean investors benefit from the Iskandar Development Region project.

Which stupid investor would want to invest in a country where he cannot benefit? They would prefer to invest in China, India or Vietnam. Morons.

On Hindraf vs Hindraf: Police report made against Uthaya

Elanjelian Venugopal: Whoever wrote the piece has a biased view of the situation in Sri Lanka and the struggle waged by the LTTE. The report refers to the LTTE as ‘a Sri Lankan Tamil fundamentalist terrorist organisation’. I believe the LTTE is better described as a militant organisation waging a separatist war against the Sri Lankan government.

The word ‘terrorism’ is a loaded word, and is best avoided or used with utmost care. The unfortunate fact remains that it is the state’s actors who resort to ‘terrorist tactics’ more often than non-state actors.
