Your say: 'Believe Matthias Chang or Ian Chin?'

vox populi big thumbnail ‘I am really put of to see that the judiciary of Malaysia has reached this extent - 'which judge to believe'.

On Dr M's ex-aide: Judge bitter because he wasn't promoted

Recalcitrant: I am really put of to see that the judiciary of Malaysia has reached this estent - 'which judge to believe'. This unlike the olden days in China where one could confidently go to 'Justice Bao' to seek justice without any doubt.

Just ask yourself with conscience, do you believe Matthias Chang or Ian Chin? I tend to believe Ian Chin more than Matthias Chang.

Whilst we can have many royal commissions to investigate such cases, these commissions will still be not fruitful if those in authority have no will or are not keen to do the utmost based on a clear conscience.

Any layman can tell you who is telling lies. Do you think that 'recalcitrants' will admit their wrongs?

On Judicial boot camp: 'Both PM, Zaid wrong'

Peter Ooi: In the report these are these statements by Pak Lah and Zaid worth looking at. Abdullah said: ‘No need… there will be no end to this. Instead, we will carry out reforms to restore confidence in the judiciary’.

Then Zaid said , ‘Another inquiry will not reveal anything more than what we already know. It will be a waste of time and money. Instead, we need to look at ensuring such incidents do not happen again….’

I wonder if they ever gave a thought to what they had said. These two statements imply that there is no point in pursuing the matter, meaning those perpetrators would be let off scot-free. This must be really a big joke.

When Karpal Singh uttered allgedly ‘seditious’ words , which Pak Lah deemed to be so, the latter did not say no ‘need need la to charge him’.

Pak Lah must understand that to pursue justice, time is not the criterion. As long as those committing crimes can be brought to justice, even ten years is never too long. And did he ever spare a thought for those who were unfairly judged and sentenced by those said judges.

To the victims and their families, they do not mind spending a lifetime to vindicate their honour. To be fair to them, those implicated few must be investigated and charged if there is enough evidence.

And Zaid must be a real joker when he said that it would be a waste of time and money . To bring back integrity and trust of the public on the judciary, no amount of money should be spared.

In fact, confidence in the judiciary is one of the factors taken into consideration by would-be investors. It would be the unkindest cut to those victims if the perpetrators are allowed to go scot- free.

On Teddies left outside palace gates

AM Sufi: I hope the young Malaysians with their loving teddy bears and gifts for their King will like that gentle stream grow to beome surging waves in the human ocean of people power.

I wish a Happy Father’s Day to His Majesty the Yang di Pertuan Agong, to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and to all fathers in Malaysia who are spending this happy day celebrating with their children and enjoying the warmth of their families.

And I especially wish a heartfelt Happy Father’s Day to the ISA detainee fathers incarcerated today, unjustly, at BN's Hotel Kamunting where unlike the Eagles’ "Hotel California", you cannot check out anytime you like. I am sorry for your iniquitous treatment at the cruel hands of your democratically elected government who ought to behave less disappointingly, and who after fifty years at it, ought to have learned the basics of good governance by now, and more importantly, the true compassionate teachings of the great and merciful religion of Islam.

Please stay strong when you sink into and hit those depths of angry despair and please remember that you are not abandoned, nor forgotten. Your good fellow Malaysian brothers and sisters and those in greater, wider humanity will make sure of that and they will fight without bloodshed to set you free, come what may and no matter what or how long it takes.

Here’s three cheers - to you and to all your brave, diverse and compassionate children!

On Dorian Gray, Pak Lah and Scomi

Adcin: I could not help but chuckle after reading the above letter where the writer concludes that Pak Lah is a liar. It is either that or Pak Lah is an ignoramus, oblivious to what is happening around him.

It is so tragic that we have this man still leading us to the point that it is becoming comical and nothing will surprise me anymore. Might as well laugh at our state of bewilderment rather than cry tears of despair.

Politicians lie, some better than others and we all know Pak Lah belongs to which category. When the price hike decision was made, did he not remember that he told the people that there will be no hikes until August at the earliest?

Did it not occur to him to at least to wait till August to be true to his words? But no. Instead he chose to tell us not to believe in what he says.

Well, we have a PM who lacks credibility and has made too many fatal mistakes to survive, and a 'true party man 'waiting to take over from him. Now that is another story in itself.

As Pak Lah's tenure as PM draws to a close, is there really anything to look forward to post-Pak Lah? The indications are not and we are in for rough and troubled times ahead. Bring in the clowns - Anwar?

On Anwar: Defections to proceed as planned

Don Ng: Pakatan Rakyat’s demarche to ‘resurrect’ Anwar in the heat of our historic ‘summer of discontent’ is perfectly understandable, and one that will no doubt be received by many (including myself and a significant number of apolitical friends of mine) with anticipated attention and support..

We must, how be it, qualify our support, in that, the ‘resurrection of Anwar’ is one thing but PR’s planned move this coming September (per Anwar’s pronouncement), barely six months after the 12 th GE, is quite another. To fly high, never mind the sun, when the wax is not even hardened is dangerous to say the least. Please go learn from Icarus!

We have been consistent in our view that before making further moves, PR must first prove itself to the rakyat , especially in the five states they now rule. They must show, without the shadow of a doubt, that they can do better and are, in fact, doing better than BN as they said they could.

The rakyat will periodically assay PR’s overall performance by hitting its achievements against its election pledges and manifesto, and we should be able to ascertain what kind of ‘material’ PR is made of by the end of their first half-term.

Now, before a fusillade of accusations and insults are hurled in my direction for sharing our honest views, please allow me to say this: We, just like many of you out there, were gullible enough to, with our eyes wide open, to fall hook, line, and sinker for a joker and we now come to regret this so very much.

Ergo, we must promise ourselves and our children that we will be doubly sure, deo volente (God willing), to pick the right guy the next time around.

On Nik Aziz rules out PAS-Umno collaboration

My View: I have much respect for Nik Aziz for his simple way of life. I believe he practises the true brand of Islam.

Many people have wrong perception of Nik Aziz - or for that matter PAS - due to their 'outfits' which are 'same style' as the Taliban. Other than the outfits, the wrong perception was also caused by propaganda of Umno and BN in the mainstream media.

While I respect his opinion, I still believe strongly that politics and religions should be segregated. We should leave religion, in this case Islam, out of Malaysian politics.

On Frozen seafood firms urge EU export ban delay

John Johnson: It is indeed embarrassing to see that our countries seafood exports are under scrutiny and that it is also not up to the standard. Here we are here trying to say we are having Sirim standards, ISO standards and so on but we are lagging behind in health standards.

It is no wonder that we are still getting cases of cholera, dysentery, typhoid, TB and so forth. If we really scrutinise our eating places, they are really in atrocious surroundings hygienically speaking.

No wonder the rest of the world does not trust our seafood. Millions of ringgit are lost because of our this. Bolehland health and agricultural officials - wake up!
