There was a moment many years ago where we thought reforms in Malaysia was a possibility. There was a moment in time where we thought our beloved country might have a bright future. There were moments where we were made to believe that a representative from the opposition party is the only way forward.

The battle of Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar is over. Cavalries from both sides of political divide gave it their all. Gladiators clashed. The eventual winners from both battlefields are representatives of the Barisan Nasional coalition. Now that the dust has settled, Pakatan should regroup, reflect and plot ways on how to differently approach the upcoming war of GE14.

Adolf Hitler, who is undoubtedly the world’s most hated dictator, was responsible for mass destruction as he spread his ideology of Nazism. It has been more than fifty years since Hitler shot himself, but till today the Germans are ashamed of Hitler’s antics. His book and flags are banned in Germany. It is not about politics. It is about his inhumane ideology.

In literally a no-holds-barred pattern, Raja Petra Kamarudin has dedicated a whole write-up to me , explaining about Islam and it’s way of life.

The ongoing tug-of-war between BN and PKR with regard to partnering PAS is not auguring well. First we were made to believe that PAS was the bad one whose stubbornness broke Pakatan Rakyat. Then we were told PAS silently accepted the trojan horse from Umno. We later witnessed PAS’s insistence on not agreeing to motions by the opposition that gave BN the last laugh.

In the most unlikely turn of events, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has become the goose that lays golden eggs in the present political climate of Malaysia. Since its induction, PAS has never been given the importance it is now receiving.

PKR’s Mohamad Imran Abdul Hamid’s comment on ‘sexy attire’ dressing of athletes while sporting is as disgusting as it can get. Not long ago, our gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi was criticised by religious bigots for wearing a ‘revealing’ leotard during her double-gold victory at the SEA games. Malaysians took to the media and condemned such small-minded thoughts. Even the sultan of Selangor backed Farah.

When we first saw light at the end of the tunnel, it gave us all hope. As we progressed towards the light source it was initially getting brighter signifying an end to our journey in darkness. We kept moving further but the light never seemed to get closer. Suddenly now, the light is dimming. Are we going to lose our only light source again?

Sitting in my room looking out of the window pondering away, I begin to reminisce how wonderful a country Malaysia was. People were highly tolerant and living in harmony. I remembered my childhood days of going out with friends engaging in sporting activities every evening with no worry about the world. Snatch thefts were a rarity and kidnapping was unheard of. In terms of culture and being English-speaking, Malaysia was a favourite for tourists.

The unveiling of Saifuddin Abdullah as a new member of PKR is being hailed as a huge step forward for the opposition. Saifuddin abandoned Barisan Nasional due to the alleged 1MDB scandal. Looking from a wider perspective, will this move add leverage to the opposition coalition?

Arguments and pleas by lawyers of disgraced former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohamed Khir Toyo with regard to court sentencing are appalling. Free dental service to the poor for three days per week over a one or two year period to replace jail sentence?

From day one, the mere idea of Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail heading the opposition coalition was a bad idea. I never supported that notion because she is no leader. Only the foolish could not see Azizah as a puppet. She has absolutely no quality besides crying. The opposition pack is in disarray presently and Azizah has to harbour the blame because she has failed as the captain.

Across the globe, the most heated debate that has been going on for some time now is with regard to political funding especially when it involves an election. Every election is churning out to be multiple-folds more costly compared to the previous one. It was alleged that about US$5 billion was spent in the general elections in India last year.

It has always been a no-brainer that PAS would eventually be axed from the Pakatan coalition. The late Karpal Singh and Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz played all their cards to keep the relationship of convenience with PAS under control. However, ever since their demise the entire coalition is experiencing an avalanche.

I have in numerous of my articles questioned the coalition of convenience between PAS, PKR and DAP. With each passing day, the need for a new coalition is becoming more and more apparent.

The Permatang Pauh by-election was by far the most intriguing by-election in recent times since the Hulu Selangor by-election in 2010. Once the finishing bells rung and scorecards were totalled, PKR’s Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail emerged victorious once again in the battle of giants.
