Job scope:

  1. Developing a rewards and loyalty programme together with the Product Manager

    1. The community manager will develop the programme's points and rewards system, with the aim of attracting reader revenue

    2. The community manager will work with the Product Manager to integrate the rewards and loyalty programme with existing systems

    3. The community manager is in charge of overseeing the development of rewards offered and how to maintain them (eg forum development and moderator recruitment)


  1. Ensuring Malaysiakini readers use the rewards and loyalty programme

    1. Create marketing campaigns to promote the programme and attract sign-ups

    2. Ensure members understand how to use the programme, through informative campaigns, instructional guidelines, and responding to user questions or problems

    3. Create and enforce general community guidelines


  1. Ensuring there is buy-in from various stakeholders within Malaysiakini (technology, product, editorial, business) with regard to each development phase

    1. Assist newsroom staff with use of moderation software and interaction with readers


  1. Ensuring the goals and KPIs of the Google News Initiative project are met

    1. Ensure grant deadlines and requirements are met

    2. Ensure phases of the membership programme are implemented on time


  1. Report progress as monthly updates to subscription manager, project manager, and grant stakeholders.


Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diploma, professional degree, or education/training in the humanities/liberal arts, mass communications or equivalent.

  • At least 3 year(s) of working experience in a related field is required for this position.

  • Proven work experience as a community manager or similar role, and some experience in social media marketing would be an added advantage.

  • Able to multitask in a fast-moving environment

  • Have experience in planning and leading community initiatives

  • Good command of English
