Gov't approves 700km Bakun undersea cable plan

The government has approved plans for a power cable linking the controversial Bakun hydro-electric project in Sarawak to Johor, according to a report in The Star today.

Energy Minister Peter Chin Fah Kui said the cabinet had approved plans for a 700km undersea cable to transmit power from the dam to Johor, a project dropped after the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
