Yes, we are all ingrates and proud of it
YOURSAY ‘I am an ingrate and I will continue to be an ingrate for as long as you lot are there.’
Don't repeat 'ingrates' remark, MIC tells Zahid
Dont Just Talk: MIC deputy president Dr S Subramaniam, what do you expect of someone with bird-brain intellectual capacity like Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi?
It is neither the first time he has made silly and stupid remarks as home minister nor will it be his last either, which is the reason more and more young graduates are supporting Pakatan Rakyat.
At least Subramaniam had the courage to tell off Zahid not to use the word “ingrates” on the Chinese and Indians, who do not owe this man a living.
What about MCA and Gerakan? As usual, they hear nothing, see nothing and say nothing.
Wira: Subramaniam, the only interest Zahid and Umno have in this by-election is to ensure that the Malay vote bank remains intact.
They are not interested if they lose the election as a result of desertion by Chinese and Indians voters so long as the Malay votes remain with them.
This way they can hold on to Putrajaya indefinitely while working in collusion with MPs from Sarawak and Sabah. The sooner you in MIC, MCA and Gerakan wake up to this reality, the better it will be for this nation.
Survivor: Wira, your observation is exactly what we understand of the Umno Baru psyche. If the MCA and the MIC are still sleeping with them and hoping for some crumbs, it will be a sad and bad story for the ethnic minorities.
We should all know that Umno Baru is dead against a pluralistic society. Nothing can change them except we wake up those who are still slumbering.
Idon'tlikekangkung: To the nitwit politicians in la-la-land, I am an ingrate and I will continue to be an ingrate for as long as you lot are there. So there. I have said it.
I am an ingrate and I am proud to be one (by your definition). By the way, Zahid, part of your salary comes out of this ingrate's taxes.
Louis: BN is really hard up for votes. It is bankrupt of new ideas and the only way to win votes is to criticise DAP’s Teluk Intan candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, saying that she is not pretty , Chinese are ‘ingrates’ and what not.
Gerard Lourdesamy: Frankly, the only ‘ingrates’ here are Umno-BN members who think that they have a God-given right to govern this country in perpetuity while feathering the nests of their own kin and supporters.
Zahid should explain to the Malays while despite 40 years of the NEP (New Economic Policy), the Malays are still left behind in a low wage trap and with the lowest household income in the country.
And yet Umno leaders, their children and cronies are billionaires leading a jet-set lifestyle. Where is the gratitude of Umno to their rural support base? Do not blame the Chinese and Indians for Umno's own greed and avarice.
Anon1: Subramaniam, please make an official complaint against this minister to the BN Supreme Council (if it's still functioning). It’s there in Article 15 of the BN constitution, in case you don't know.
Please don't become an ingrate by inaction. And please heighten security around your home and service all fire-fighting equipment and sprinklers, just to be on the safe side.
Cry, My Beloved Country: Politics aside, the words used and the conclusion arrived at provide the public a clear picture of the home minister.
The voters he chose to describe as “ingrates” will undoubtedly show him the consequences of his thoughtless assertion. You might recall there is a "price to pay" . Poetic justice and all.
Apacerita: They, Umno, keep hitting on the Chinese because the Chinese don't care about their bashing. Some may think the Chinese are afraid but I think the Chinese are much smarter than these Umno leaders.
It’s because the Chinese know what is more important and there is no sense in getting angry at these small fries.
AsAConcernedRakyatHeSays: Although I am an ingrate, I worked diligently and pay my dues, be it income tax, education loan, car loan and house loan.
So I am an model ingrate citizen. Yet, I don't have enough money to leave the country.
Blackknight: The one redeeming point in this statement is that Subramaniam had the courage to speak up, especially against the most popular VP (vice-president) in Umno.
Whatshappenning: It’s the ministers, MPs and politicians that raise all these racial and religious issues and cause the rakyat to be at loggerheads with one another. They are the ones who create all the issues that annoy the rakyat.
Bluemountains: Does Zahid realise that by calling the Chinese ingrates, he has in fact signed the "death certificate" for his own candidate in Teluk Intan? He can't be that dumb. Otherwise he may need to get himself a copy of ‘Politics for Dummies’.
Disgusted: To all Indians, duty calls upon you all to stand up for your own community. The time has come. The time is now.
God does not change the condition of a people until they themselves change their own condition.
For 54 years, the Indians have been the most loyal supporters of the Barisan Nasional. The Indians have been more loyal to BN than any other race in Malaysia, including the Malays. What has that got you?
Last year, only one Indian student was given a medical seat in a government medical school. Now Gerakan says, despite there being almost three million Indians, there are no capable Indians to be fielded as candidates in elections. Please wake up.
It’s high time you stopped voting for them. Please convey this message to Indians of Teluk Intan as they are kingmakers and have great power. Just remember how they are treating Hindraf leader P Uthayakumar.
Homesick: I just want to say this to voters in Teluk Intan. The last two elections, you wanted to change for the better and kick Umno-BN out and hence you voted for Pakatan Rakyat.
So what's so different this time? Don't you still want to boot out the incompetence Umno-BN regime? Please vote with your brain and not your heart.
Fair Play: Zahid, it looks like your rough tactics of intimidating others do not to work anymore. Now, even the 'mice' dare stand up to you, although in their timid way.
Kamaapo: Under Umno, sensitivity has been neatly paved into a one-way street. I'm so perplexed why they don't understand that others too have sensitivities, and, Zahid is holding such a powerful post, too.
