Surely Zahid's not joking this time
YOURSAY ‘On the contrary Zahid, loyal Malaysians will also vote against racism.’
Chinese who vote DAP 'ingrates', says Zahid
Quigonbond: I'm just wondering aloud. If the Chinese are ingrates and don't vote for Gerakan in the Teluk Intan by-election, what will happen?
Will the government stop giving contracts to these Chinese traders? Oh wait, they never received such contracts in the first place, hence no loss to them.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, here's my proposition. Malays and Indians, all stand solidly behind Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud to ensure DAP fights for all Malaysians, ensure PAS drops its hudud, and with it Umno's false pretenses, and save everyone from being subject to selective hudud prosecution and dismemberment under a corrupt criminal justice system.
And the day BN falls, everyone gets equal opportunity to make hay under the Malaysian sun regardless of race, religion or economic standing, with the exception that those in need get commensurating assistance.
Now, wouldn't that be a much better deal, especially for Teluk Intan's younger generation?
Jiminy Qrikert: Chinese voting DAP are ingrates, Malays voting DAP are traitors. Indians voting DAP are confused.
We now know that the overwhelming majority of Teluk Intan voters are ingrates, traitors and confused lot as they are going to vote Dyana in with a higher majority than 7,300 in 2013.
Meanwhile, Gerakan candidate Mah Siew Keong is grateful to Umno for its underhanded tactics in supporting his campaigning. Mah will lose but he will remain grateful as he sinks into political oblivion.
“The open opposition to hudud by its candidate Dyana Sofia Mohd Daud has angered the Malays,” Zahid said.
So, does this mean that Gerakan and Mah support hudud? Excellent stand-off then - Malays reject Dyana for rejecting hudud and Chinese reject Mah for supporting hudud.
The fact is nearly zero non-Malays support hudud while a significant number of Malays reject hudud, so chances of Dyana winning is excellent.
Naatamai: Zahid, in case you don't realise, the right to rule is a responsibility given by the people through their mandate. It is not an inheritance.
Even the mighty Congress Party in India was brought down. You know why? It’s due to the younger generation of voters. The trend is the same in our beloved country too.
The ‘subservient’ elders who have been ‘gratefully’ voting for status quo are naturally reducing in numbers. The likes of you should take cognisance of this.
It's a matter of time these youngsters, the majority of whom are colour blind, will not fall for the outdated race, religion and royalty trickery anymore.
Tan Kim Keong: On the contrary Zahid, loyal Malaysians will vote against racism, supremacy and bigotry.
That's why regardless of their race and wealth they will vote for equal rights, justice and impartiality. They are just being grateful and showing their gratefulness to Malaysians by standing for equal rights, justice and fairness.
Tholu: "So the Malays and Indians support the Chinese traders... They become successful, and vote for DAP. They are ingrates, right?" said Zahid.
Hello minister, are you saying there are no successful Chinese businessmen who support and vote for MCA? In fact the successful Chinese businessmen support and vote for MCA and BN because it is through the corrupted Umno and BN government that they have become successful.
Known DAP supporters are denied any business opportunities by Umno. You know this fact but yet you say stupid things because you think you can fool the people.
But let me remind you that there is no bigger fool than one who thinks others are stupid and therefore can fool them always.
LKT: It does reveal how crude and shallow is the thinking and logic of Zahid for him to say what he said. DAP is a bona fide political party contesting in an election for the same votes which BN is going after.
All voters are free to decide for themselves who they would like to give their votes without any intimidation or being insulted in making their choice. For Zahid to resort to belittle the same voters he is trying to get their votes is pure stupidity.
Aries46: Zahid sounds desperate and is disgustingly racist. Only as recent as two days back Anwar Ibrahim had reiterated that “Malay is not Umno and Umno is not Malay”.
If as what Zahid says that those who vote for DAP are ingrates, why the need then to have elections?
The Chinese, despite their decades of traditional loyalty to BN, have survived 45 years of Umno's ‘ketuanan’ apartheid-like policies under the guise of its affirmative action plan and Zahid's unhappiness is not about to scare them into returning to the BN fold any time soon.
And contrary to Zahid's claims, the biggest losers of Umno's 'one race supremacist' policies were the Indians whose decades of loyalty to BN was treated with scorn, suppression and marginalisation and they too have deserted MIC-BN.
BN today is merely an empty shell, an isolated Umno with a few Chinese and Indians as window dressing.
LawofKarma: I felt hurt by Zahid's statement that the Chinese are ungrateful. So Zahid and Dr Mahathir Mohamad, out of my natural reaction, can I now go storming into Umno headquarters, forcefully break open its doors, tear down its signboard and threatening to burn down the building?
Anyway, even if they agree with me, I will not do it as this is not the right thing to do.
Dr Suresh Kumar: If you want to purchase say, a set of furniture, in your vicinity, and you have three furniture shops each owned by a Chinese, a Malay and an Indian, would you not do a price survey first before you choose the store that gives you value for your money as well as quality?
Since there aren't many non-Chinese traders, hence we have to go to a Chinese trader, that's simple logic and got nothing to do with race at all.
Of course, any businessman would want to make a profit, just like any Malay or Indian businessman would. Why keep blaming the Chinese businessmen?
Instead of being envious of their success and since Umno controls the financial resources of the country and made easily available to the Malay community, why don't you teach the Malay community how to work hard and compete with others?
Since when Umno started being concerned about Malaysians of Indian ethnicity? It's a paramount task for an Indian even to get a simple kacang putih, floral or vadai stall licence; this forces them to carry out their business activities on five-foot ways and get constantly harassed by the authorities.
This is taking place under the Pakatan Rakyat-controlled states too.
Sirach: This is so typical of the Umno Baru mentality, which believes that it has a divine right to rule. They are so out of touch, it's almost funny.
Voting for the opponent is an act of betrayal in their eyes. They go to the extent of labeling the DAP candidate a traitor to the race. They trot out the empty 1Malaysia slogan at election time in the hope of showing the ill-informed that they are Malaysian first and Malay second.
It fools no one. Sadly for them, the mismatch between talk and action is blindingly obvious.
AA: Every Malaysian of age 21 and above has the right to vote for any candidate he or she thinks is the better one without being called an "ingrate."
If you think you are the better candidate and should be supported, tell us and convince us why you are the better candidate. Don't call us names; don't bribe us; and don't threaten us.
We are all Malaysians, no matter whom we choose to vote for.
