The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is continuing its probe into 1MDB former subsidiary SRC International over the RM4 billion loan.

A spokesperson also confirmed the commission is probing the claim that RM42 million from SRC was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts between late 2014 and early this year.

In a statement this evening, the commission said: "MACC reiterates its assurance the probe will be carried out in a free, transparent and professional manner."

"We hope all quarters will be patient and provide the space for MACC in carrying out its duties," it added.

The RM4 billion was loaned by KWAP (pensioner's fund) to SRC International, which is now under the Finance Ministry.

Part of the loan was invested in Gobi Coal & Energy Ltd, a joint venture project in Mongolia.

MACC will be independent

The MACC gave its assurance that investigations would be done independently, transparently and professionally.

"We hope that everyone will be patient and provide room for MACC to conduct an in-depth investigation," said the MACC.

Meanwhile, the MACC clarified that it is only investigating SRC International and claims that RM2.6 billion was deposited into Najib's account.

The police on the other hand is investigating matters concerning 1MDB while Bank Negara is investigating financial matters.

MACC also reiterated that none of its members were involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the government.

"Actions taken by the MACC is merely to fulfil its duties and function as an independent commission.

"MACC's role is to investigate corruption cases and not to topple anyone, including the government," said the MACC.
