'Just you wait,' MACC boss warns corrupt politicians

Vijay47: Pardon me if I am not overly assured with your warnings to "politicians", Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Dzulkifli Ahmad, but yours is a song we have heard so many times that we can join you in the chorus.

Nevertheless, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. For the moment. The first crucial action to be taken to gain some credibility is obvious - 1MDB has to be thoroughly investigated or properly re-investigated.

That sorry shame should not be placed on some secure pedestal merely because it involves favoured leaders and their henchmen; to-date, to our national humiliation, not a single related person has been charged.

Perhaps the public are baying for blood, but that is no excuse for your reticence towards enforcement.

Second, do not embark on some exercise to hound and harass opposition members - the allegations against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng are dubious and questionable at best.

By all means, investigate effectively every member of Parliament or even civil servants living in RM5 million homes. Then we may salute you.

Strong posturing indeed. But enough with the posturing and war cries. We know your predecessor almost nailed the source of the mother of all corruption in Malaysia, but he was stopped in his track and his knuckles rapped.

MACC itself was jolted with a quake and a number of its pillars collapsed. Collateral damages were evident. Debris is still strewn around its entire headquarters. The corrupted actually brought their fight to your doorsteps and spewed venom at your faces.

Unless you and your team continue, hound and complete that particular and outstanding exercise and in quick time, nothing you do, or say or posture will ever convince Malaysians that you are fair, integruous and unbiased.

Pemerhati: Anything MACC does to catch some corrupt officials or says about fighting corruption or going after corrupt people is likely to be treated with contempt and seen as some sort of ‘sandiwara’ until and unless they bring MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) and his cohorts to justice.

MACC’s inaction on the 1MDB matter in the light of overwhelming evidence that MO1 and his cohorts have allegedly stolen billions of the people’s money, strongly indicates that MACC are mere lackeys and protectors of MO1 and all their actions and public utterances are either at the behest of MO1 or are designed to please MO1, who is their lord and master.

GE14Now!: While Dzulkifli's apparent desire to bring corrupt politicians to justice is to be applauded, we cannot but help feeling that there is another side to his warning.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read his statement of “to all corrupt politicians, wait” was that we are going to have to wait forever for the MACC to nab the biggest kleptocrat, most corrupt politician the nation has ever seen, one Mr Ah MO1.

So once again, the rising hope that one might have that corruption in high places might be dealt with definitively is dashed against the rock of (possibly deceptive) rhetoric.

CQ Muar: Chief commissioner Dzulkifli, as it is, we're witnessing some concrete action taking place in the short time since you took over.

Thus far, however, only the body of the rotten fish gained much attention. Surely you won't let us down and disappoint the majority of the rakyat by taking on the head, would you? For that's where and how a rotten fish starts to decay.

Honour your word; you'd certainly earn all our respect.

Dont Just Talk: During the short duration that the new MACC chief has assumed his post, he has done a good job as proven by the recent arrest and charging of the top corrupted civil servants and CEO of GLCs (government-linked companies).

His threat of going after corrupted politicians is a different kettle of fish and we wish him luck on his endeavour. Or does he mean going after opposition politicians, since the MO1 is above the law?

Negarawan: "To all corrupt politicians, I have only one word for you: Wait." Zulkifli should be given an award for the understatement of the year. He is making a mockery of himself and the MACC.

Zulkifli should have a meeting with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) or the Singapore Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) to understand what integrity, honesty, and professionalism mean.

Mushiro: Indeed, Dzulkifli does not inspire confidence in Malaysians that he dares to be fearless in his war against corrupted politicians. So far, Dzulkifli has been targeting only a selected few of low level civil servants.

MACC has got years of investigations on corruption and yet Dzulkifli's excuse is that he has been in the commission for less than six months. Are all the earlier investigation papers by MACC worthless?

Anonymous_1375701728: Opposition MPs be warned. Elections are around the corner and you are going to be hampered by MACC investigations.

Dzulkifli, I will believe you if you issue a red notice for the arrest of Jho Low, Riza Aziz and MO1.

Then it shows that you mean business. Otherwise, please stop thumping your chest.

Fairman: Dzulkifli, you only have the pistol (investigative powers) but the attorney-general/public prosecutor has the bullets (prosecutorial power).

He alone decides whether to prosecute (load the bullets in the pistol) or otherwise, once he goes through the investigation papers. This is how MO1 escaped from being charged in court over the SRC International case.

Tell us a better and more convincing story.
